"Middle class" just means "normal" here--something like 90% of people in the US identify as middle class. As for me, I'm trailer trash and know it.

Yeah the UK def of middle class is kind of an outlier even amongst European countries I think. Still not entirely sure if "upper class" is reserved solely for the aristocracy here.

Boris Johnson is considered middle class by some people but he's upper class to me. Keir Starmer, Jess Phillips, awful people like that are middle class.

There's no way 90% *are* middle class though, I'm certain the working class is a lot larger than anyone wants to admit, likely to themselves.
