Really thought I was going to finish much faster. This was, I believe, the first game where I thought of the concept of what the target word was but couldn't actually remember the word for it - my brain helpfully proposed "oh, you know, the whole gamut of schoolwork you have to do" - thanks, brain. Could have cut off at least 40 guesses if I'd sat back and waited for the word to come to mind instead of going ahead with my rapid-fire word association.

odd route to today's and only got it through looking at synonyms - all of mine were "boat" related as boat was 990/1000 but no other vehicles I tried were green

I have a lot of greens all in the same domain but like Zelda I can't get higher than 995, and it's the gaps that worry me - in between the greens that I do have, what's going on? Is there a completely unrelated domain that I haven't stumbled on and also matches the target word?

thought of another domain which has yielded a whole load more greens but got me no closer. i've managed to get five ???? words though! gyrocopter, wingsuit, jetski, lifejacket, windsurfer

Am getting the feeling that people whose route into the green was along pottery/weaving lines are having an easier time than those stuck on aircraft/watercraft!

192, had to use a thesaurus and now i feel like an idiot. i knew what kind of word it probably was - synonym of vessel - but couldn't bring anything to mind.

Most of my wasted guesses were from 'music' being a fairly high non-green, and my first green being 'pluck' - spent so long trying out different ways of playing instruments, like an idiot. As soon as I got on the right track with 'weave' it was a reasonably straight walk to the finish.

i got #52 in 115 guesses (pretty good for me) ... i did a lot of wasted guesses because i had gotten into the green fairly early with poetry, writing, art, photography and skill at guess 92, which I would have thought would have been much higher. Also guess 101 technique I felt should have been in the green, and so I was actually surprised when the answer was the answer

Gave up today, got to #995 relatively quickly but got focused on aviation and couldn’t see beyond that.

Crept up to 961 in 132 guesses. Now at #165 and still not getting anywhere. Close to giving up on this one.

I feel like there's a certain kind of free association that can get you to the answer in a reasonable # of guesses a lot of the time, like once you get up into the high teens/low 20s, you can guess words that are semi-related but not quite synonyms and try going in different directions, and you often get closer and closer that way.

A bit of a slog today, though got there in the end.
