I'm gonna urge everyone who clicks on this thread to at least watch *that* episode - my daughter wanted to watch it again this morning and it was even better than I remembered. the constant parallels between Bingo's dream and the mundane, daily nighttime routine were really something. when she sleepwalks she's exploring in space but when her mom grabs her in her dream she's experiencing that crazy scene at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey. and using "Jupiter" by Holst as the soundtrack? brilliant. the final scene where she looks back at the broken planet and says "I have to go, I'm a big girl now" is a real tearjerker...but this time I noticed it parallels what happens when Bingo drops Floppy, because my daughter asked me "why did the bunny leave her?" and of course she's going to join all the other bunnies, idk how I didn't notice this at first but that's a pretty obvious metaphor as well.

also worth mentioning how great the animation is too. it's so tightly storyboarded. especially since it's just like one episode out of a hundred.

out of curiosity I looked it up on IMDB and it has a perfect 10.0 rating, making it one of the greatest television episodes of all time? I rarely look things up there but it was nice to see that this is not just me losing my mind over a kids show

Lol my elder one loves it - my girls are six and two & three quarters and I swear they sound just like Bluey and Bingo sometimes. It is incredibly good and it makes me cry too; The Flat Pack episode is, story wise, nearly as conceptually ambitious but not as trippy or quite as moving - maybe 9.8/10.

ending of the Barky Boats one was also very good - the older kids having feelings for each other but not knowing how to express it, then the little kids not understanding why the older kids aren't so interested in playing with them. the scene where they try to hold back the water was very moving - reminds me of last summer when my 6 year old son was on his bike while I walked around the block, then he suddenly picked up speed and I was trying to run alongside but he was going too fast. and then he got so far ahead where he couldn't hear me when I yelled at him to slow down and I realized "well he's off now, soon he'll be out of sight and I'll have to trust that he goes back home"...THAT is the feeling this show nails down so well

i nearly wrote about that one above. it's heartbreaking when you hear him say, in french, that he's off tomorrow and realise she doesn't know but salvaged by the coda

Can't wait.

We went to see the stage show a little while ago. It was disappointing. The voices were all prerecorded by the actual cast, so it sounded er 'accurate' but didn't really feel like a live performance. The story involved Bandit trying to get his phone off Bluey which didn't really fit in with the normal show ethos, and it tried to shoehorn in all these 'greatest hits' sort of moments - chattermax, grannies, etc.

I thought The Sign was too long. But obviously still well worth watching.

One of my favourite episodes is the one where the grannies help out with a yard sale. "Oh no, ma coins!" is one of my all-time favourite lines.

the bbc have snuck out 12 episodes i haven't seen (series3). it's a pain to record them due to many repeats and season-pass mess (and cbbc / cbbchd doubling the listings. 76 showings it says in the next week)
