My quickest result yet. Guess 7 was container (16:03), guess 16 was vessel (25.31). After faffing around a bit with other meanings of vessel, I tried artery (guess 26) and leapt to 851/1000. Then it was mostly swift and linear, through aorta, lung, kidney to liver.

fuck. no greens till #106 blood then got it in five. highest (but not green) for a while was hospital, should have played around with that more maybe. or, looking at the full word list, maybe not.

I had a go with the mirror site yesterday, trying some earlier ones i didn't play (or did but forgot about, so fickle is memory). Had more instances of taking over 100 to get green. Was stumped for ages with one where glue, cloth, tree, wood were all green but nothing else close to any of those words was. (It was candle.)

odd one this. only had three greens the highest of which was 800, but had a flash of realising what domain i was in and fluked the answer immediately after.

actually having looked at the wordlist, that’s not true. id identified an area - advertising - which covered the green words i’d uncovered - and in the end it was just luck.

I use a thesaurus pretty much every day for this now. I do think of it as cheating, but the alternative - sheer frustration - is unattractive.

Took me 180 today, for #33. My first green was pretty useless (ironically, it was 'green'), but eventually I went from colours, through stylishness, to dangerousness, and the combo of the last two areas led me to the answer.

daunting was my first green and it sent me in the totally wrong direction. It was pure luck that I got it during a flurry of rapid guessing, because the direction I was going in would have took me nowhere near it.

Zelda Zonk, we seem to have a very similar guessing pattern. This took me 110 guesses, and I didn't get a guess in the green until #103. Then I had a few more completely cold guesses and then got the answer.

This game isn't really about synonyms at all. They can point in the right direction initially or to find the final word when you are close, but if I'm not making clear progress with each series of guesses, it's time to switch up the strategy.

Also, words in the 800s aren't really that close sometimes. Often you are just as well off thinking of a completely new path, than trying to get from 800 to 1000 if you are stuck.
