TTIAST a different story, as with the piece of shit that alpine static shared, but the former at least is pretty boilerplate and not a new development

i saw someone on X dragging this terrible song, but the replies were immediately swarmed by paid blue check racists defending it for "saying what we all think", definitely finding an audience with terrible people.

Agreed. The reaction to it seems to have been about appropriation from people who don't listen to country anyway, but this isn't like a fast-follow, white-friendly take. It came out 35 years ago! I for one think his rendition is nice and better than the vast majority of what I hear on country radio. Still quite common for major country acts to include covers on their albums, in keeping with a long tradition in country music.
