I think you should just get it. Sellers have the option to impose price minimums per order, so I'd assume they're fine with it if they haven't imposed one.

when i was doing a lot of ebay selling in the past, there was one instance of me just outright forgetting to mark the item shipped. of course, the buyer reached out after a few days to inquire and i immediately went and adjusted it after getting their message. i'm sure it looked it sus on their end, but it was delivered a day or two later, so no big deal. it does happen.

something that's happened to me more than once as a buyer on discogs in the past few years is buying something, getting the usual notices (including a "shipped" notice!) and then having the seller reach out a few days later saying they can't locate the item. it's only happened a couple times and i've gotten a full refund in both cases, but it was just odd. doesn't me receiving a "shipped" notice mean that they paid the postage??!!?

Shipped could just mean that they've printed the postage out. That's become more common these days in all sorts of online ordering

it just means they bought the shipping label then couldn't find your high rise DVD when it came time to pack it up, that's happened to me as a seller.

nah, you can get a refund on the label. it's just embarrassing to be like "i know i sold you this thing but i'm also very bad at knowing where stuff is, sorry."

I ordered the Crass "Best Before" "Crassical" edition from OLI, long time back.

I knew there'd been issues with this, and saw that a lot had been resolved. Still, taking it's time.

Anyway, i sent an email saying OK what's happening? (affably). I got an affable reply.

And, half an hour later, it arrived!

(I told the OLI person, he laffed too)

I don't want anything else they have and I don't want to risk getting fucked by import taxes

Is it from a Discogs seller? As long as they include the Discogs commercial receipt on the package with the UK VAT number visible and the customs form properly filled out there is very little chance of any further charges. Of course you never know how diligent any give random seller is going to be about that.

The issue is mainly for users who use the cover view. If you have more than 100 records, 3-4 records in a massive format just aren't practical. The old format worked fine for all.

Yeah, I used to use that view all the time, would print one "folder" then check off what was still there, what was sold and what should be added. One page of easy to see covers Vs three pages of unnecessary text (I know what album that is, etc)

yup, this is the case with almost every other thing I buy now, and it is not an issue relegated solely to Discogs. I wonder who these people think they are fooling

for some reason I didn't think you could make an order without paying for it since they changed the shipping policy so it auto-generates. but I now have an order which has not been paid for. the buyer has just 1 feedback, negative, non-paying buyer, from 12 years ago! WTF.

I think you can configure your settings to not sell to people with less than perfect feedback?

You can still order and not pay. My standard response is to confirm that the item is still in stock, and that i can ship promptly once payment is made. That almost always does the trick.

additionally you can go to your seller settings and configure an auto-cancellation after X amount of days of no payment.

In my experience tracking - USPS and FedEx - has gone completely off the rails in the last month or two. Things marked as USPS waiting, have indeed shipped, packages stalled for weeks on end at some distribution center or other. Not news, ofc, but economies of scale are melting down.

Whereas I got a package from Japan-->USA, via DHL, in a matter of days.

man, the Discogs Enhancer plugin truly is a must-have IMHO. just being able to add minimum grades (for media and sleeve) and a blocked-sellers list to the filters REALLY saves tons of time. thanks to whoever it was on ILM that recommended this to me a while back!

Just had a particularly irritating experience finally resolve itself.

Placed an order January 26
Messaged the seller February 3: "Has my order shipped yet?"
Order changed to Shipped on February 5
Package received March 9, and postal stamp says it was sent on March 1.

ZERO communication in between. And this was something (the 3CD version of Loop's The World In Your Eyes compilation) that I paid 50 Euro for, including shipping.

Fortunately, the item arrived exactly as described - brand new, still in shrink wrap, perfect condition. But fuck, man, waiting a month to mail it? What the hell?

If you needed it for work, alright. If you needed it for fun, wgas.

50€ for that huh, might list my copy.

it's one of those weeks on discogs, 2 non-paying buyers and some dimwit emailed me saying they've been looking for 2 CDs I'm selling forever and will I do combined postage on them, which discogs just does automatically and they have more feedback than I do so how do they not know this? I replied (nicely) but they didn't order them anyway

my 2 non-paying buyers almost resolved, one apparently couldn't get the payment to go through on their phone but managed to do it on a desktop, the other fucking idiot was waiting for me to confirm that I have the items in stock and the shipping is correct apparently?? seriously what is wrong with these people, why do we have to fill in these ridiculously complex shipping policies, cunts will still waste our time anyway, you got a fucking invoice moron

I keep saying it but I’ve gotta get out of the buying game soon. I’m NOT your fussy record guy when it comes to condition, but I keep buying records listed at VG+ and when they arrive I think you would have a very hard argument even saying they’re VG- (I had one that was entirely split around all four sides, barely held together, AND had significant ringwear). I don’t want to blast these people in the feedback because condition is subjective and I’m afraid they’ll retaliate but there’s no way these people think these are truly that condition.

On the flip side, I’ll occasionally get a VG that looks nearly mint. There’s just too much inconsistency and prices are generally stupid high for the older pressings I’m looking for.

IMHO you should feel very free to write to them, describe the discrepancy, and ask for a refund. When they say yes, ask for a shipping label if they didn't already offer to pay the return shipping. Discogs is explicit about using the Goldmine standard and you're on solid ground asking for a return.

If they won't do it, then appealing to Discogs or leaving negative feedback are the appropriate recourse. Feedback is also the main warning available to other buyers that this is one of those stores that overgrades everything, so it's a public service.

i sold about 200 CDs on discogs over the past few years but I did sell most of them for bargain prices.

at the moment I mostly only have some very expensive vinyl listed, but I'm reliably selling one thing every week or every other week.

when you look at the actual definitions for VG etc on discogs it allows for a lotttttt of leeway. too much really. “very good” should not mean “kinda scratchy” but yet

the only time i ever complained the seller was amazing, told me to keep it and they’d ship me another better copy for free

“Very Good” allows for light scratches that can be felt with a fingernail. To me, that’s bonkers. But I didn’t write the Goldmine standard.

Also, virtually nobody adheres to the values ascribed to the condition; if a NM copy sells for $50, then the VG+ copies are like $40 and VG copies are maybe 30, instead of $25 and $12.50 like they “should” be. But that seems to be what the market will bear.

I’ve had excellent luck with sellers’ grading on Discogs in the main. But I don’t buy from sellers with virtually any negative feedback and I rarely buy from sellers who don’t go into some detail about the condition.

I do list albums in general as vg+, and prior to despatch I'll do a closer check. If there are definite issues I'll let the buyer know and let them choose a discount or a cancel or whatever.

One time I'd sent a nice looking mono "Rubber Soul" off, but the buyer sent it back for a refund, fair enough it happens but rarely.

I'd done due diligence, but. Anyway I looked again and thought it still looked good, in fact better than I remembered. I asked the buyer, he said yeah it looked better than it sounded so he had it professionally cleaned!

Anyway, all this was v.civil so we 'shook hands and parted

Totally. Also second not buying from people with more than a couple bits of negative feedback. Like, 99% positive is effectively my minimum, maybe 98.5% depending. If they're too new a seller for that to be meaningful then I flip through their listings as a whole, and if everything is "NM" then obviously they are overgrading hustlers and I add em to my blocked sellers list.

Another red flag is when every single negative review has an all-caps response from the seller reading something like "BAD ATTITUDE, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT A 30 YEAR OLD RECORD TO LOOK LIKE??? S C A M BUYER BEWARE!!!"

One thing I’ve learned is that the price of the record usually says more about the condition than what it’s graded at. A number of times I’ve scored great deals on here only to find the record itself was, at best, a full grade below what it was listed at

I also bought a 2LP set from a big seller and the jacket only contained one record. I messaged him about it and he said “oh, weird, let me look into that”. Still haven’t heard anything back. Strange cuz the dude still has like a 100% rating. I don’t wanna ruin it!!

Otoh some private sellers are pretty nice about this sort of thing - I got a $5 refund once because a record had two clicks at the beginning (the rest was perfect). Another gave me $5 because a corner was slightly dented - I probably wouldn’t have even noticed.

Bought something on Saturday, asked the seller on Sunday to cancel and he said he would. Monday he printed a shipping label, I asked why and he said oops! and canceled it. Now it's Tuesday and the USPS just picked up the package and it's, presumably, on its way to me.

I've never sold anything on Discogs, so I don't know, but is it *hard* to cancel an order after it's already been paid for? Because this guy made it sound like it was SUCH A BURDEN.
