I've always said Jimmy Carr is a cunt and should be executed.

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 18:35 (two years ago) link

I genuinely hope he literally get's murdered

imago, Friday, 4 February 2022 18:51 (two years ago) link

I guarantee you it would only be occasionally mildly amusing at best and eventually quite exhaustingly boring. But hey I'm not a comedian!

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 18:57 (two years ago) link

the whoops from the crowd in that Carr clip are sickening, comedy audiences are the worst as well.

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 18:58 (two years ago) link

I think it was the birthday or death anniversary of Jeremy Hardy the other day and thinking how about 99% of british comedy are complete cunts and he was so nice.

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 19:13 (two years ago) link

I've always said Jimmy Carr is a cunt and should be executed.

Like to think you just posted this randomly and haven't seen the news.

nashwan, Friday, 4 February 2022 19:15 (two years ago) link

well at least now I can argue for justifiable homicide!

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 19:20 (two years ago) link

Sean Lock as well, another who was quite funny and not a tory prick who was taken early by cancer. All the worst ones will outlive us all.

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 19:26 (two years ago) link

even Jerry Sadowitz couldn't make it funny saying the genocide of european roma was a positive. There is no fucker in the world who can make that funny, yet these simps laughed and some whooped.

this was posted by George Aylett. Pointing out that Pamela Anderson had a much better position of what was going on in 2018 re: Brexit than the shadow brexit minister Kieth Stauner.

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 19:46 (two years ago) link

Various Twitter people suggesting that the correct form of restorative justice for Jimmy Carr would be to get lamped by Tyson Fury. Fair IMO.

the thin blue lying (suzy), Friday, 4 February 2022 20:16 (two years ago) link

as long as Tyson is allowed to put some nuts and bolts in his gloves!

calzino, Friday, 4 February 2022 20:53 (two years ago) link

The defence of Carr seems to boil down to “calm down, it was a joke” but what was the joke? As far as I can tell there was no irony and it’s just a man saying the systemic slaughter of an ethnic group was good because they’re bad and the audience lapping it up in agreement

— Darren Richman (@darrenrichman) February 4, 2022

don't give these fuckers any money, just download illegal torrents if you are addicted to watching garbage.

calzino, Saturday, 5 February 2022 08:46 (two years ago) link

Great how the calls for Netflix to pull this will 100% not result in that happening but will give Jimmy Carr plenty of opportunity to go on TV shows to cry about cancel culture.

Not that I think the calls shouldn't be made, it's just.

Daniel_Rf, Saturday, 5 February 2022 11:46 (two years ago) link

not seen any response to this from any of his high profile "committed anti-racist" chums yet. It will take some gold medal winning bullshit at the sophistry olympics to argue that this was acceptable or even comedy, seeing as it was objectively unfunny.

calzino, Saturday, 5 February 2022 12:00 (two years ago) link

lol went on Baddiel's twitter fully expecting him to not give a toss about a demographic that truly "doesn't count" when it comes to most ppl's anti-racism and fair dos, he calls Carr's joke indefensible.

Channel 4 have another let's gawp at the travelling community series coming up, none of these cunts give a fuck.

Bastards of Fish (Tom D.), Saturday, 5 February 2022 12:39 (two years ago) link

idk, I think this one might have crossed a line. There’s a potential issue of criminal liability as well. I’d be surprised if Netflix left it as-is.

We completely reject any questions over sovereignty of the Falklands.

The Falklands are part of the British family and we will defend their right to self determination.

China must respect the Falklands' sovereignty 🇬🇧🇫🇰

Will his appointment be an act of political “Harri-kiri” or “Harri-Krishna”?
@Dominic2306 clearly thinks the former. But some around the PM hope the new faces in No.10 can spread peace and love with MPs, and the public.

Just want to note, now it's the day after, how the leader of the opposition was yelled at by a mob and nobody commented on it or raised concerns that "while I don't like Starmer this is worrying for democracy". Thank you all so much for not giving a shit.

I’m old enough to remember when Corbyn got egged (or, got punched by a guy holding an egg) and the timeline was full of egg puns. Glad threats to the leader of the opposition’s safety are no longer a hilarious laughing matter!

if the CPS had prosecuted Savile while led by Starmer, he'd be using it and playing the brave big game hunter who took down the most prolific hiding-in-plain-sight sex offender in UK history. It didn't and this subsequently been weaponised against him, goes with the territory when you take top cop-wanker jobs imo. It's some mild karmic payback for all the people who did longer prison sentences for benefit fraud or faced summary night court justice for stealing a gingerbread man. I couldn't care less if he got a serious kicking, the fucking snake.

calzino, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 08:43 (two years ago) link

this toxic parliamentary discourse could lead to a politician getting murdered, which is fine as long as it's JC - my piece in the Graun.

calzino, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 08:53 (two years ago) link

He’ll never do it but it might be worth him mentioning that the party opposite had that beast to Chequers, knighted him, gave him a skeleton key to Broadmoor, and were happy to have him campaign for their party as late as 2010, and as to prosecuting journalists? Phone hacking.

the thin blue lying (suzy), Tuesday, 8 February 2022 09:27 (two years ago) link

If KS was the kind of politician who’d say any of that, he wouldn’t have journalists queuing up to decide that this, now, is an outrage. Thinking of this quote from Jimmy C (whose statue I’m visiting tomorrow!)

We regard capitalist journalism as an effective weapon in the hands of a well-informed, but utterly unscrupulous, enemy, rather than merely as an unbiased recorder of passing events.

— James Connolly (@ConnollyEbooks) February 8, 2022

mardheamac (gyac), Tuesday, 8 February 2022 09:32 (two years ago) link

You are neglecting your duty as long as you allow your City Hall to be in the power of men who, as landlords, derive their living from the rents they extort out of the poisonous slums in which they are slowly murdering the children of the working class.

— James Connolly (@ConnollyEbooks) February 8, 2022

still otm

calzino, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 09:38 (two years ago) link

Literally any quote of his from more than a century ago is more otm than every journalist in Westminster combined! Too bad he was from Edinburgh.

It is necessary in Ireland as well as in England to emphasise the point that the policy of the capitalist at present throughout the world is the policy of pretended sympathy with working class aspirations.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 10:14 (two years ago) link

The top of old Abbey Street, I’ll take a picture for you!

http://www.talkingstatuesdublin.ie/statues/connolly/

I think if Connolly could have chosen, Tom, he’d have been born in Glasgow. I notice Edinburgh doesn’t have a statue of him.

mardheamac (gyac), Tuesday, 8 February 2022 10:20 (two years ago) link

from what I've seen Kieth seems quite a lot more evasive and nervous on defending his decision not to prosecute Worboys for additional crimes. And he was personally responsible for that one. But that's one they'll detonate at a later date if he's still LOTO.

calzino, Tuesday, 8 February 2022 10:30 (two years ago) link

(xp) there has been talk of having a statue to him in Edinburgh for a while, you can imagine why the council might have reservations about it. To be fair to Edinburgh, there was a massive Irish community there and the Hibs were the first Scottish team to represent that community in Scotland, Celtic came later.
