this show would be better as just a comedy but on the other hand i do appreciate how weird what it is is

I do appreciate how they spent the last 20 minutes of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2 showing the Gemstones as finally being a more unified unit, other than ripping on each other at lunch, but by the end of S2E1, it had already unraveled.

Pretty sure Eric Andre and his wife were behind at least the attempted hit at the end of e4.

yeah for sure you could see how upset they were by jesse and amber pulling out of the deal, they really needed that money are prob in deep financial distress so they figured theyd kill eli who was supposed to be on that bus and then jesse would be in charge and give them the cash

was thinking maybe the time share development was just a scam to get the money from the gemstones and whoever else and they had no real intention of building it

This is kind of going how I feared in the sense of being a sort of post-Coen Bros crime-caper show first and a comedy second. Were there even any jokes at all in the last episode after the opening "nobody say pussy" scene? And even as a wacky crime show its still very watchable, but I just really wish they were more invested in making me laugh.

its really a dark action dramedy thriller with musical elements, the only thing i can really compare it to is one of those gonzo korean movies like the host

hard not to think of what it could be if it were more focused tho, like if it were just a very dark surreal comedy, more like a coen bros movie, or in between that and eastbound and down, or really what i want a very dark eastbound and down, cool show tho i really cant complain, i do not like the flashback eps tho replacing judy and jesse with child actors is a buzzkill

i've liked them cos we get Jennifer Nettles as Aimee-Leigh and it gives a nice glimpse into how things turned out the way they did, but I do miss the adult kids when that happens.

this seems to be McBride's least reprehensible character, which is sayin' something.

Surprised how much this revolves around Eli now…when I started watching I assumed they were gonna kill him off in the first few episodes

My prediction is they are going to kill him off at the end of the season and they're getting as much Goodman in before then as they can.

What a weird show this is. McBride, Green, Hill ... from Pineapple Express to Halloween, just this surreal world of buffoons and assholes and the violence they do. It's kind of a campy Coen Brothers, sure, but there's something more (or less?) going on with this crew.

was disappointed at the short length of this one, pretty shocking ending, but as soon as Eli got in the car, I knew what was coming.

it's pretty obvious that Junior had nothing to do with the hit, because even he couldn't coordinate a retaliatory hit that fast, and he seemed more perplexed than anything as to why he was visited, and with the Lissons gone so long, I tend to agree with upthread that it's a Godfather/Virgil Sollozzo styled hit lead by them to get to the money.

Good memory! Also, would kind of justify Gideon being all but AWOL this season; I think his siblings have had more lines than he has.

Gideon is interesting, but it's hard to piece together a motive for killing Eli. He is mad about getting the Grandaddy Roy house? He didn't seem that upset about it, and it would likely fall on Jesse. I suppose he may now be too loyal to Jesse and his mother, killing Eli to help them out? It seems likely that he'd love his own Grandfather. Perhaps he's discovered something about Eli's past and views it as hypocritical and/or revealing his own inner mean streak.
