this is a good point. i don't think it would be exactly the same, but i think simmons would still have an outsized idea of his abilities and place in the pecking order which could be pretty harmful.

i had been trying to figure out for a while why announcers calling 3 pointers "triples" annoyed me. and it hit me tonight that it's just a simple usage thing--triple is a multiplier. we don't call 2 point shots "doubles." in baseball this is fine because the default hit is a one-base single. not really a thing in basketball.

i think i am now even more annoyed by it.

i kinda like the idea of a color guy yelling out "1-2 that's two points!" after every dunk and "1-2-3 you can count em" after every three pointer especially if the guy doing that was hubie brown.

i'm guessing harden and kd are fine but that he doesn't like brooklyn and can't stand kyrie.

i feel like one thing harden would take seriously and pride himself on is playing in all the games and that he'd lose a fair amount of respect for someone who felt differently.

it seems like ppl aren’t talking about the scenario where the nets choose harden over kyrie & either trade kyrie, refuse to offer him an extension or just banish him from the team entirely for the final year of his deal. i guess the reporting on harden not liking brooklyn has this “he doesn’t like living in cobble hill” angle but if harden tells the nets “it’s either me or kyrie” why would they choose kyrie
