the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:00 (fifteen years ago) link

anyway i wanna eat their shrimp & grits, based on the review i read, they sound A+ but i would think that in general.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:03 (fifteen years ago) link

hay schef is there still an applebees downstairs from the target?
i want all-you-can-eat chicken fingers goddamnit.

ian, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:10 (fifteen years ago) link

there's one up the street a bit on flatbush! in the atlantic center there's just buffalo wild wings and chuck e. cheese (a friend said that chuck e. cheese is the most depressing place on earth but now i can't remember who actually said it)

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

ha! my friend kiran said that, and i think i passed that info on to you.

lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

yes it is my bday tomorrow

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:24 (fifteen years ago) link

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:24 (fifteen years ago) link

i live right next to the target (is there more than one?)

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

u must be so close to me then!

yes i've always wanted to go to that applebees. the chuck e is indeed very depressing.

you should try bellmont steaks at the atlantic mall for some good old southern-style mediocrity

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:36 (fifteen years ago) link

i'll come to bed-stuy and go to peaches and you should come and we will take a picture and i'll make a blingee and it'll say "max & ally bed stuy buddies 4 eva"

surmounter, you're in ft greene yeah? i'm over on bergen & 4th. i just moved pretty recently beginning of summer so i'm still exploring all the new shit that's popped up in this area since last i had reasons to hang out in "bococa" or whatever ppl call it now.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:41 (fifteen years ago) link

lol im not pround of it but i have been to that applebees and that buffalo wild wings

not been to peaches but i am srsly doubting the smoke joint dudes could ever put anything worthwhile together

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:43 (fifteen years ago) link

im way surprised at ppls dislike of smoke joint, it wasnt like heavenly or anything but it was better than a lot of bbq ive had

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:44 (fifteen years ago) link

mediocre bbq w/an incredibly lame steez WE CALL THEM BROOKLYN WINGS DONT U SEE

cannot tolerate this

i live 2 blocks away and never go there and i love love bbq

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:45 (fifteen years ago) link

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:52 (fifteen years ago) link

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm still a huge fan of mullane's.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:56 (fifteen years ago) link

i have some faith in them cause i thought that little pig was really good. sad that they killed it. i went to peaches once and it was pretty good but nothing more. would give it another chance. i think smoke joint is good, but never go there.

mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:56 (fifteen years ago) link

sur, you like everything. it's charming.

mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:57 (fifteen years ago) link

i will admit that i am pushing peaches maybe more than it deserves cause i have a certaine amnt of hood pride 4 it plus once they gave me a free corn & black bean salad

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:58 (fifteen years ago) link

^otm re dumont's burger, and may restore mas to #1 on my never-been list

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:00 (fifteen years ago) link

omg dumont's burger is delicious. i have to try lucali pizza still.

max have you tried solomon's porch yet? it's inconsistent (they seemed to run out of like half their menu constantly?) but brunch is good.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

its across the street from my girlfriends place but i havent been yet... keep meaning to stop by since its the only place to get a beer in like 30000 blocks but never end up doing it

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:12 (fifteen years ago) link

ok yr gf lives like 10 minutes from my old apt, that is hilarious.

they had a good shrimp & grits there for sure. <--- apparently my definition of "worthwhile restaurant experience"

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:33 (fifteen years ago) link

they totally gutted the place - the amount of work they put in was pretty impressive

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

even isaac mizrahi some dude on isaac mizrahi's blog says so

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

lol korey seems to be responsible for all the posts on issacs blog - most of which have nothing to do w/anything

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:39 (fifteen years ago) link

dumont's burger is fine but by far not the best burger in brooklyn.
IMHO the best burger in brooklyn is probably at Bonnie's in Park Slop.

also, Bar-B-Q in Greenwood Heights is awesome.

ian, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:40 (fifteen years ago) link

do u like 5 guys ian

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:41 (fifteen years ago) link

peter luger's burger is crazy good.

mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:41 (fifteen years ago) link

it's not claimed as just the best burger in brooklyn, but the best in nyc

"peaches" in bed stuy has got some good nu-americana or whatever you wanna call it--good soul food/comfort dishes made w/ local organic ingredients

dunno what nu-american is, but that isn't new american food

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:42 (fifteen years ago) link

the shake shack truck never happened did it

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:43 (fifteen years ago) link

joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:46 (fifteen years ago) link

max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:46 (fifteen years ago) link

question:

what ever happened to Honmura An in SoHo? I heard Jean-Georges bought the space a few years back but never heard what became of it. That used to be my go-to soba spot downtown.

the shake shack truck never happened did it

― joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, October 7, 2008 12:43 PM (3 minutes ago)
major bummer

mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Kramkoob (Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:48 (fifteen years ago) link

ian, how do you like your burgers cooked? i feel like that makes a big difference with dumont?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Sasabune now beating Sushi Seki in Zagat

Honmura An is dead

gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

shef i like my burgers rare goddamnit. i don't hate on their burgers or anything, but the price has gone up what, like $5 in the last three years? so it's good and whatever but if i'm gonna go and sit at dumont i'd rather just get the mac n cheese for real cuz that really IS the best mac n cheese in the area whereas the burger is merely "top 10" material.
