Bartended at an actual bar for the first time in my life last night. It was insanely busy— it’s an outdoor bar garden, and yesterday was a glorious day in my area— so I feel absolutely worn to pieces today, but there were five bartenders on deck and total tips came to something like 1370 dollars, so that rules. Once a week for the rest of the summer, if anyone comes to Philly I’ll make you a Paloma.

I met a friend I hadn't seen in ~12 years in bars two nights in a row this week.

One of my semi-regulars is a local cop who got obliterated last night. While he was working on that, every story he told was about getting obliterated in the D.R. on vacation, getting obliterated in Mexico on vacation, getting obliterated at a buddy's house, helping another buddy get obliterated on his 21st birthday, etc. He took it reasonably well when I cut him off but I'll have my guard up with him from now on. Also, the fucker tipped 5% on a $124 tab.

There weren’t enough coat hooks under the bar because the lady on her laptop couldn’t move down one seat despite having the space so I put my coat on a seat and some douche spilled beer on it and venmod me $30

I have a lot of issues with coats and bars. I can’t put my coat on the stupid hook underneath the bar because my coat is long and it will drape onto the floor. So people always say, put your coat over the seat. Well fuck that, I don’t want strangers sitting on my coat. I respect my garments. I think less of any bar, and especially any restaurant, that doesn’t have normal coat hooks or a coat rack. Unacceptable!

You step away from it for a moment for whatever reason and then someone will just sit down on it. Some people never look down or just disregard whatever is on the seat they want to sit down on.
