memory boy rules, and revival is quite good too. both are a hair over 2 minutes. they make their point and get out, i love it.

i really am fond of bradford - a dazzling showperson, gorgeous voice, the weirdo's weirdo

I really *want* to love him, especially for his candor. But he comes across as such an insufferable diva at times.

i love him onstage, try to avoid seeing or reading anything he says otherwise. he does not help himself

Helicopter by a very wide margin

Great album, probably my favorite of theirs. I know "Desire Lines" is highly revered, but I'm not even sure it would even make my top five here (my favorite Lockett song is "Ad Astra" from Fading Frontier; chills down the spine on that one). Voting for "Helicopter"--gorgeous musically and devastating lyrically

I love Monomania - it seemed well-reviewed at the time, but eventually it became apparent that few others had the same enthusiasm for it. It's like Deerhunter/Cox fell out of favor with a lot of people beginning with that album.

He Would Have Laughed suffering from being over-served to me by Spotify after listening to something else entirely. Great album.

for real, that outro is just terrific. is the rest of lockett's stuff anything like that? lotus plaza?

anyway, if you're a desire lines head, this is a great version that i was obsessed with for awhile

i think i forgot to vote, but i would've voted for that one

roflrofl fight (voodoo chili), Thursday, 13 January 2022 15:42 (two years ago) link

Yeah, the biggest surprise was 0 votes for that one. "Revival" didn't stand a chance here, but I think it deserved a vote

Great video of Desire Lines. This set also has a version of it, with added backing vocals by Bradford.

global: Lotus Plaza's Spooky Action at a Distance is excellent. And yeah, it's all pretty much like "Desire Lines" ... not all *that* great (tho some is comparable, I would say), but it generally sounds like that.

it's a really murky album in comparison to Halcyon Digest, where every song is very hook-based.

xp thanks alpine! love that album title too

really enjoying this record, but anticipating the almost 7-minute track later on, i need that ~cosmic outro~ shit badly
