i havent been keeping up lately but earlier in the season he mostly came off as a really passive players coach

presuming that the gloves come off for ime in the media for real after the all-star break if this shit doesn't even out a bit

yeah. i think the players are bearing most of it now but with ime there is going to be some "so what exactly do you do around here?" type of questioning coming soon

There's an alternate timeline where the Celtics never get into All-Star point guard roulette and just develop Terry Rozier. Makes you kind of wistful to think about it

feels like the right amount for a player of beals caliber, tho of course youre paying for the rights to give him a giant contract that extends into his 30s so idk

it does seem like market rate, not an overpay in that sense. i just have lost enough confidence in this team over the past year+ that i am not at all sure he would put them over the top enough to not regret giving up those picks

He is way, way below career averages on 3s. Gotta think he'd be getting a lot better looks with the Jays as running mates. alright what the hell let's make it happen

idk about how available everyone has been, but this should be the most talented team he's had around him in the past couple years and it doesn't seem like it's helped him--usage down (which could be a good thing if it was coming out of bad shots bailing out his teammates), free throw rate way down, turnover rate up.

the 3-point shooting is obv the biggest thing but it's a concerning profile when you dig into it.

the celtics trading all their picks for brad beal coming off his worst season in years & throwing him onto a team w/ two similar players that doesn't have a PG or any shooting & then signing him to a humungous contract sounds like a great idea & i approve

hes pretty different than tatum and brown mostly in that hes a guard, has more of a guards game playmaking speed and so forth, hed be a pretty nice fit really since the celtics are in desperate need of both playmaking and shooting in the backcourt, tho obvs itd not be free from concerns like age contract bad season maybe weird guy who never won anything and so forth, but as far as adding a third star theyre not super likely to find better than him

guard play is really whats been killing the celtics this year, that and tatum forgetting how to shoot, smarts offensive liabilities are well known but when you pair him with another non shooter such as dennis schroder or guys who arent really putting much pressure on on the defense like pritchard richardson (who has been great fwiw but he does what he does) or larngford youre just not getting enough out of the backcourt, beal would be an extreme upgrade there and allow those other guys to settle into their natural roles, as for a point guard who has a point guard thats not even a thing anymore name three point guards, youd just have beal and smart both playing guard, theyre both kind of combo guys anyway

idk brad is a pretty conservative guy but i do support him going big why not

it feels like their absolute ceiling is getting squashed in round 2 so loading up for next year & beyond makes the most sense. prob wouldn't be fun to deal w/ tatum & brown's angst over the backsliding over the last two years but they're under contract so w/e. if the trade market this year is advantageous to them really reshaping the roster for the future they should do it

i feel like the alchemy between "i'm a new guy in this job and i want to prove myself by making some moves" and "this roster needs a shake up to begin with" is very strong

it's tough to figure out what this team should do but it's clear they're not going to make any noise this season so moving some vets, playing some young guys, and seeing what shakes loose over the offseason makes sense to me.

The Kings are currently shooting so badly (20.8 percent) I looked up the worst single game field goal percentage in NBA history. The Philadelphia Warriors shot 16.4 percent against the St. Louis Bombers on Feb. 7, 1948. I don't think it's in play, but at this rate who knows.
