This was great fun and very weird. Much less "Buck Rogers"-y (as in the 80s TV series) than the first episode - I'm still not into the casting of very "Special Guest Star" tv types in minor roles on these shows. They feel like they've walked off a Donny & Marie skit.

not really familiar with the wider universe & had to look up stuff afterwards but it wasnt a hindrance to my enjoyment of the episode

I dug this episode. Like emsowrth upthread, I was a little worried about this show pulling back whatever veil of mystery remained with Fett and over-explaining everything, but this has been a pretty fun ride so far. My 10 year-old, absolutely loves it and has already proclaimed it "better than Mandalorian". I'm not exactly onboard with that sentiment just yet, but it definitely helps my enjoyment to watch him geek out over it.

I thought this episode was fairly boring, and parts were just ridiculous, but my kid seemed really into it. This show seems good for kids. The assault on the train was cool.

Pleasantly surprised to see Nat from Yellowjackets show up in this, even if she was dressed like she walked off the set of that show straight onto this one. Her little gang and their Vespa speeders were so goofy though! lol

I still don't get why Fett wants to be Don Tatooine in the first place – rather than, say, going anywhere else; finding Han Solo and kicking his ass; etc. (was this made clear at the end of The Mandalorian S2)? I imagine his "motivation" will also come into focus as the flashbacks slowly progress...

He was a bounty hunter like Jango. You can only climb so high hunting the bounties yourself, so it's natural he'd get into management.

also the near-death experience in the sarlacc pit and forced time with the tusken raiders has given him this new interest in justice. the Tatooine daimyo seems to have more power than the mayor in shaping daily life for those living there. he disagrees with the Hutt way and wants to change things. perhaps he also enjoys the respect.

Plus, hanging around with space mopeds. (Quadrophrenia mixed with a guy wanting to dress like Doctor Who?)

seeing some theories floating about: chiefly why the Drash character, played by American Sophie Thatcher, is British i.e. she could be either Rey's mother/related to Palpatine, or Kenobi's daughter/granddaughter. I hate this shit already.

that chase reminded me of the early Harry Potter quidditch match scenes, and not in a good way.

Drash just has the same virus Leia had at the start of Episode IV it will wear off.

Drash got a droid's british accent to do proper ultraviolence on her scooteries with the droogs

Quite jarring to hear a London accent in a Star War - Englishers in it are usually incredibly posh.

The chase had to be quite deliberately covering all the cliches - halfway through when they got to the two guys carrying a big thing across the street, I was like “ok, now where is the cart of watermelons” and then there it was. My husband also thinks the scooters were a Quadrophenia reference. The. design of the one with all the redundant mirrors on the front convinced me too.

After seeing a prior attempt of Boba Fett’s to be a leader, where he leaves for a negotiation and it ends up being an utter tactical failure, it’s pretty funny that in the present he’s recruiting teens.

those teens must think it's so lame that none of his fancy mando parts are actually integrated into his biomass

Among everything else, the contrast btw the gravity of the flashbacks and goofiness of the “present-day” scenes in not a sign of a good show
