Just realised it doesn't matter what hemisphere it is: if this is south of the equator, we're looking at the south side of the building, and the dishes would be on the north.

I think it's Porto and that's the Villa Nova de Gaia TV tower
― Critique of the Goth Programme (Neil S), Monday, 17 January 2022 09:15 (two years ago) link
Definitely feels like Portugal but that tv tower doesn't look like the Villa Nova de Gaia, which also appears to have a red and white lattice mast and a smaller tower (which does look like the one in the above pic) adjacent
― ignore the blue line (or something), Monday, 17 January 2022 10:20 (two years ago) link
possibly, I thought the match was good enough given the distance from the tower in the photo, but you may well be right. It was the small cobbled pavement that made me think Portugal or maybe Spain.
― Critique of the Goth Programme (Neil S), Monday, 17 January 2022 10:22 (two years ago) link
I've google image searched tv tower portugal, tv tower spain, ... sardinia corsica italy sicily france switzerland austria hungary slovakia slovenia croatia montenegro kosovo macedonia bosnia albania greece romania bulgaria moldova ukraine turkey georgia
maybe it isn't a TV tower after all. Some of them look kinda like this one (sofia/vitosha, for instance) but not exactly. Or we're not in Southern Europe. I don't know. :(

the 'BUS', the P for parking and the X no stopping sign could all be the uk, but for the wrong side of the road thing that's going on.
also uk buildings are generally more finished than that one.

That looks like a jacaranda tree behind the lamp post, native to So America, but widely planted elsewhere.
― nickn, Thursday, 20 January 2022 18:19 (two years ago) link
what's that yellow pattern/painting on the road? some kind of optical thing that should be seen from a particular angle?
― StanM, Thursday, 20 January 2022 20:26 (two years ago) link
It's a box junction ("do not enter unless your exit is clear"), weirdly elongated.

is that a german postbox?
― 𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 20 January 2022 23:11 (two years ago) link
There are several trees there that look like jacarandas, which grow in warm climates so I doubt they have many of them in Germany. The cobblestones, the jacarandas, the racial mix of people and the sort of rundown air all make me think of a suburb in a Portuguese city, or at least somewhere in Southern Europe.

Note about that TV tower:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto_Forest_Parkhttps://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parque_Florestal_de_Monsanto#Antenas_de_Monsanto:“Thanks to the dominant position in relation to the entire Lisbon region, Monsanto was equipped with several antennas. Among these stands out the Centro Emissor de Monsanto, a communications tower of Portugal Telecom, which succeeded the former antenna of RTP. With a height of 100 meters, it is one of the tallest structures in Portugal.”

The last picture gave me strong Lisbon vibes, more specifically it reminded me of Sete-Rios station, where we embarked on a train or metro every morning while staying in Lisbon in 2019 to venture into the city centre or away from it. Confirmed by the box junction thing: Wikipedia only mentions Malta, Cyprus and Portugal as Southern European countries where it’s in use. Streetview showed some very similar buildings along the railway to the ones in the second pic when exiting the station, so I decided to move down the line away from the centre, further into the suburbs. Hit the jackpot at the very next station. Locating pics 1 and 3 took a bit more time.

Good work kousenband!
I didn't expect this one to be so tricky, at least after the second pic anyway. Good work on getting all shots, wanted to keep them as close together as possible while showing something different
And yes, the shot of outside the station is oddly reminiscent of an architects mock-up photo. The lighting, and maybe the way the people are placed
