By my count, the Celtics have been basically healthy for 24 of the 115 games they’ve played since the beginning of last season.

A lot of those games have a non-Jay rotation player out or are in Jayson’s “not technically covid but covid aftermath struggles” period.

It’s a fair point but excuses excuses. Eye test says the malaise and inconsistency are influenced by but not close to fully explained by injuries

one thing re bad vibes that ive noticed is a bunch of players in the media testifying to how well they get along with jaylen that its silly to say they dont but i never see anyone saying that they dont its odd

The Jays seem like a very awkward personality fit on top of the nonideal fit on the court

All that stuff at the beginning of his career about Jaylen being super intellectual and having all these non basketball interests, i wonder if he’s not an easy hang.

think at this point i'd rather have a good point guard than two jays but maybe both is possible in some way

the thing about trading a player as good as jaylen is you never get equal value in return so its basically a non starter, seems like the two realistic options for the celtics to become a better basketball team are 1 acquire a third star via shipping off a bunch of draft picks or 2 build a more complimentary team, one that has more playmaking and shooting, around the jays

ever being at all healthy would help too

ime has not exactly been covering himself in glory so far

yeah im willing to give him time since this is his first head coaching job but complaining about leadership toughness etc in the media does not fill me with confidence

i havent been keeping up lately but earlier in the season he mostly came off as a really passive players coach

presuming that the gloves come off for ime in the media for real after the all-star break if this shit doesn't even out a bit

yeah. i think the players are bearing most of it now but with ime there is going to be some "so what exactly do you do around here?" type of questioning coming soon

There's an alternate timeline where the Celtics never get into All-Star point guard roulette and just develop Terry Rozier. Makes you kind of wistful to think about it

feels like the right amount for a player of beals caliber, tho of course youre paying for the rights to give him a giant contract that extends into his 30s so idk

it does seem like market rate, not an overpay in that sense. i just have lost enough confidence in this team over the past year+ that i am not at all sure he would put them over the top enough to not regret giving up those picks

He is way, way below career averages on 3s. Gotta think he'd be getting a lot better looks with the Jays as running mates. alright what the hell let's make it happen

idk about how available everyone has been, but this should be the most talented team he's had around him in the past couple years and it doesn't seem like it's helped him--usage down (which could be a good thing if it was coming out of bad shots bailing out his teammates), free throw rate way down, turnover rate up.

the 3-point shooting is obv the biggest thing but it's a concerning profile when you dig into it.

the celtics trading all their picks for brad beal coming off his worst season in years & throwing him onto a team w/ two similar players that doesn't have a PG or any shooting & then signing him to a humungous contract sounds like a great idea & i approve
