oh wow. that's really got a look to it. much as the movie does! main reason to watch it, plus it's got such a strange melancholy energy. like the creators seem to have intentionally been seeking something like Silent Running, and almost getting there.

Specifically, a bunch of late 60s/early 70s commercial buildings in Texas, ex. the Apparel Mart and Hyatt Regency in Dallas. Pretty much all gone or ruined through renovation, sadly.

The "OZ Restaurant and Nightclub" in Dallas was used for the Love Shop sequence. Table for three, please.

"See A MAN WHO MIGHT BE KIRK DOUGLAS SPIT BLOOD, and also see HIS ANIME LADY WIFE". I didn't realise until googling it that Spart started a wave - or restarted a wave - of Italian Spartacus films, including Spartacus and the Ten Gladiators and the Steve Reeves-starring Son of Spartacus, which sidestepped the major barrier to a sequel by having Reeves portray Spartacus' son.

Sadly there isn't a Conan vs Spartacus. Yet. Did Spartacus have a superpower? He was just good with a sword, and charismatic.

Paul Sorvino's passing made me think of the forgotten 1986 comedy Vasectomy, which I was delighted to discover scored a Mort Drucker illustration -- sadly less busy than some:
