maybe it was the quality time spent on the Charles Whitman wikipedia entry, but that caption instantaneously made me think of Ed Gein.

Now it's even creepier! I wouldn't have thought that possible. Can totally see why you thought of that though.

I'm worried for the guys that are six feet and higher that weigh 150 pounds or less. It makes me think of the Udo Keir demon baby from the Kingdom which had long scrawny arms and limbs that couldn't support themselves.

And now I am in a food coma.

My kitchen and bathroom are being ripped out on Tuesday, so I am making a dinner party's worth of keema peas curry for the freezer/microwave. I'll only be able to nuke, toast or boil a kettle for the next whenever. ARGH.

Thursday is Chinese Ladies (Plus Eddie) Lunch Day. I am an honorary Chinese lady, an honor I earned by happily chowing down everything the Chinese Ladies order, including numbingly hot Sichuan dishes and things involving duck blood. I look forward to Chinese Ladies (Plus Eddie) Lunch Day all week.

Suzy: get an electric frypan! Theyre awesomely handy for no-kitchen situations, I find. In a pinch you can almost even cook pasta in them (its a little slow though).

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 23:34 (fourteen years ago) link

suzy - I can empathasize ... our bathroom got ripped out last summer ... we got the landlord to let us use the facilities in an open unit downstairs.

suzy that is pretty much how i live. its easy.

I am really dreading nearly three weeks of having a refrigerator, microwave, toaster and kettle setup in the main room of my studio, where I also sleep (sunny, don't you have rooms where you can go to avoid the construction carnage?). The building-wide renovations are also a surprise to me, as I spent a great deal of time and effort about eight months ago decorating my kitchen myself. We have a choice of fittings but my DIY effort is about a million times more Elle Deco than what's on offer, and that worries me. I don't generally do beige floors unless they are made of herringbone parquet.

After that I have to have horrible basal cell carcinoma removed from my back (it is small, I am not worried) and that's two weeks of NO REAL BATH while the stitches heal.

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:12 (fourteen years ago) link

yuk, that sounds awful ...

So gross. It is not fair to miss a bathtub during Fashion Week ;-).

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:19 (fourteen years ago) link

do you have a shower?

Suggest Bander-Meinhof Complex (sarahel), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:26 (fourteen years ago) link

No shower - water pressure in the UK isn't what it could be, considering how surrounded by water we are here.

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:33 (fourteen years ago) link

it isn't against the law for the landlord/property manager/whoever to leave you without running water for that long?

Suggest Bander-Meinhof Complex (sarahel), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:39 (fourteen years ago) link

They will actually remove and replace the bath and toilet and sink the first day but it will be like trying to wash in a dust storm until they do the rest.

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:55 (fourteen years ago) link

that's pretty great that they can/will do that in one day ...

Suggest Bander-Meinhof Complex (sarahel), Monday, 14 September 2009 09:57 (fourteen years ago) link

It's a public works project so they have to. If there is a problem, I will ask for some kind of vouchers to use the showers at the local pool.

oh i didnt mean the construction. just the cooking appliances. in fact i dont use a toaster or kettle either and the microwave is optional.

Hillary had Everest in his veins (sunny successor), Monday, 14 September 2009 13:20 (fourteen years ago) link

The problem here is NO OVEN for three weeks, and a living room stuffed with kitchen-based appliances.
