I really liked the moments of Roman actually making Kendall smile in his despair. Showed Roman to be not just a narcissist, but trying to lighten the situation (maybe his only skill).

yeah i liked that too

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 13 December 2021 16:28 (two years ago) link

it's so immensely perfect that Roman's entire concept of how to be funny is "put on a 'foppy British man' comedy voice"

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 16:40 (two years ago) link

was a nice touch how logan gave roman one last chance to be loyal before revealing that he had him beat

lag∞n, Monday, 13 December 2021 16:42 (two years ago) link

not sure how I initially misread Tom’s pitch to Greg in the moment

“a deal with the devil” only means one thing on this show. there’s only one devil

mh, Monday, 13 December 2021 16:45 (two years ago) link

uh huh

Connor’s meltdown was great too

yes connor's freakout was my other favorite moment. forgot about that.

Greg calling Roman a "sexual pervert" in front of the prinduchess was pretty good

oh and willa’s proposal acceptance
“fuck it” lmao

and then her crying at the wedding & chugging wine later

great last ep in that it felt inevitable and you could put the pieces together (esp with Tom) but it felt like a surprise ending.

wonder if they'll flash forward a few years. . . Logan has a 3 year old and the baby becomes CEO

S4E1 is just gonna be Gojo/ATN livestreaming Greg's castration

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 17:09 (two years ago) link

love how cursed Gojo is as a company name

I did not like this season, I hate the music so much, the whole thing is shot like a calvin klein ad from back in the day, I can't believe every season of this show just sticks to the plot of that m&m sketch, the slave castration part was scene was the only good one I thought

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 17:55 (two years ago) link

I was about two-thirds negative about the first season, one-third with season two, and completely satisfied by this season. Most of the problems (I probably wrote about them early in this thread) had to do with waning credibility of moments episode by episode. The show has improved so much.

... (Eazy), Monday, 13 December 2021 17:57 (two years ago) link

There are so many things that objectively I recognize are fair criticisms of this show, and none of them bother me, and it just makes me think that maybe more shows should be extremely well-written and well-acted instead of being not so well written or well acted and then I would like them more

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 18:01 (two years ago) link

^^^^^^^ well put

a (waterface), Monday, 13 December 2021 18:03 (two years ago) link

tom's an insane actor tho

Bongo Jongus, Monday, 13 December 2021 18:08 (two years ago) link

good acting and good writing are definitely good

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 13 December 2021 18:16 (two years ago) link

Tom gets all the best lines, imo.

Doderick got the best protein spill, though

tired: character development, likability, stakes, whatever other hack screenwriter bs ordinary non screenwriter people have adopted for some miserable reason

wired: acting, writing

The dialogue felt especially In the Loop on this last one.

this show is fine but damn ppl get really bent out of shape if you say it's just good

xp

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 13 December 2021 18:42 (two years ago) link

Gotta be honest, this episode is where the whole inserting "fuck" in place of another word kind of stopped being inspired and felt kind of lazy.

"Hans Christian Anderfuck"

jaymc, Monday, 13 December 2021 19:05 (two years ago) link

that particular move is not a strength of the show's writing

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 19:11 (two years ago) link

Can't tell if Bongo is telling us to fuck off or quoting one of his favorite verbal motifs from this well-written show

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 19:12 (two years ago) link

ppl get really bent out of shape if you say it's just good

"just good" is what I'd call it, that still makes it way better than almost all other TV!

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 19:13 (two years ago) link

yeah, i agree with Jordan that it has vastly improved. it finally hooked me this season

it would be cool if stewie in succession was stewie from family guy

Bongo Jongus, Monday, 13 December 2021 19:30 (two years ago) link

Oh man a Family Guy fan hates Succession, I'm crushed.

a superficial sheeb of intelligence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 13 December 2021 19:36 (two years ago) link

the line was "let's see if Hans Christian Anderfuck is just telling us fairy tales" or somesuch which is more foregiveable

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 13 December 2021 20:03 (two years ago) link

Yeah I liked that one, it was the "Wizard of Fuck" one later that had me rolling my eyes.

I like it when the zings are worse and malapropisms abound

these people are just not as clever as they want you to think they are

mh, Monday, 13 December 2021 20:15 (two years ago) link

good point actually

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 13 December 2021 20:22 (two years ago) link

I think they kept playing Kendall saying “going nut-nut” in the recaps just to irritate me

mh, Monday, 13 December 2021 20:24 (two years ago) link

Exactly jaymc, ty. That got a little old in Veep, but it was almost a nice throwback here.

Funny how we lower the bar for mainstream entertainment, esp when it comes to internet lingo. "Some guy with an undercut just called me a soyboy" sounds au courant on a tv show but would sound unbearably passe/cringe on here or twitter (or anywhere on the web)
