6,500 depot workers at Tesco to go on strike on the run up to Christmas. More green shoots in the workers movement emerging. Solidarity to them.

EXCLUSIVE: Video obtained by ITV News shows Downing Street staff joking about a Christmas party on 18th December last year.

No 10 has spent the past week denying any rules were broken. This new evidence calls that into question. pic.twitter.com/nKYK0tG0dQ

Can't believe that Allegra could behave like this.

Lol @ the tweet above this. Just dumb as shit.

It’s one rule for them, and another for everyone else. This government is not only inhumane, incompetent and corrupt, they are also laughing at you while doing all this. They aren’t even laughing behind your back, they are doing it in your face.

i mean, its tacky

plax (ico), Tuesday, 7 December 2021 21:20 (two years ago) link

It seems to be the relatives of the dead who are angriest about it?

When I think that my Grandma died with none of us able to properly visit her and that I didn’t go to her funeral to follow the rules. That I had to cancel my Christmas plans and leave mum in tears to follow the rules. And these absolute fuckers were partying & laughing about it.

mardheamac (gyac), Tuesday, 7 December 2021 21:35 (two years ago) link

People never seem that bothered or interested in what relatives of the dead have to say - it was the same with the Iraq War. I'm sure there's some psychological blocking thing going on.

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 December 2021 21:43 (two years ago) link

all the shit they've done in the last couple of decades (both parties) this just seems so small I can't even feel anything about it, not even any kind of mildly ho-hum kind of ennui, never mind anger. Maybe I'm wrong but it's just the way I feel.

oh gosh this guy really is the worst...remove the fucking plank from thine own eye first you dismal ham.

Yes, that was dismal.

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 10:10 (two years ago) link

Starmer's asking for an apology. SNP are demanding a resignation.

Yes it's Ian Blackford though, nobody takes any notice of that little prick.

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 10:12 (two years ago) link

Honestly Starmer needs to just leave this to the effective communicators like idk Ant and Dec? Pmqs going to be even more cringe today than normal

I really don't mind if the tories get fucked over this, any port in a storm.

Would be more cause to rejoice if there were the possibility of something better getting in instead ofc.

yeah.. that's the problem here, I really don't care a jot for the tories b team.

It doesn’t seem wildly improbable that this has all been leaked in response to rumours that the government was mulling over another set of curbs to socialising over Christmas. Plan C looks almost certainly off the table for the foreseeable future.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 11:35 (two years ago) link

Far from improbable.

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 11:44 (two years ago) link

the usual suspects were very quick out of the gate with the "well any restrictions now will just have to be advice in the wake of these staggering one-rule-for-us relevations"

stet, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 11:53 (two years ago) link

Only improbable bit of that is that the govt would be looking into further restrictions in the first place imo

Jesus, what's the point in PMQs if the second any sort of tricky question is asked, they're able to deflect it with "you're playing politics"?

Urbandn hope all ye who enter here (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 12:19 (two years ago) link

Talking of cunts

Will the CABSEC also be asked to investigate the *flat* party on Fri 13 Nov, the other flat parties, & the flat's 'bubble' policy...?

— Dominic Cummings (@Dominic2306) December 8, 2021

groovypanda, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 12:36 (two years ago) link

Sunak's eyes and general demeanour during PMQs suggested, err, rather less than unequivocal support for Johnson.

— Mikey Smith (@mikeysmith) December 8, 2021

of course the best thing about PMQs is reading the imbecilic commentary on it by the lobby hacks who are too stupid to be even considered serious court jesters, but not watching it very often is a very good choice imo.

calzino, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 13:38 (two years ago) link

First name terms is it now?

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 13:39 (two years ago) link

Stratton's resigned as we all knew she would.

nashwan, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 15:44 (two years ago) link

When Smeato Met Moaty (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 15:46 (two years ago) link

mardheamac (gyac), Wednesday, 8 December 2021 16:27 (two years ago) link

calzino, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 16:31 (two years ago) link

Good statement from Sinan Kose.

Anyone who does what Stratton did is a terrible person.

Odd thing is it seems as though she never actually even started her job -- that expensive briefing room was only ever used for this practice briefing which has brought her down?

the pinefox, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 16:53 (two years ago) link

The way she has handled this -- she will be giving intimate and revealing interviews to the Sunday Telegraph in two month, monthly column in the Spectator, Times Radio regular slot by Easter - etc etc.

All too obvious.

Yes, bad people who will continue to thrive.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 8 December 2021 16:54 (two years ago) link

They simply cannot help themselves

I've known @AllegraCOP26 for years. She was a brilliant colleague on the show. As I would expect, she has done the honourable thing, and swiftly resigned. Whatever you think of what she said in the clip obtained by @itvnews, she is a model for many in modern politics...

— Robert Peston (@Peston) December 8, 2021

Whatever you think about the Downing St party, it a) clearly happened b) wasn't Allegra's fault c) she is genuinely remorseful, and has resigned with speed and grace. https://t.co/3EDgXTcTkP
