it’s going to be weird if the better Mimi-led song from that album doesn’t place.

wtf y’all

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 21:35 (two years ago) link

no more singular unit of beauty in their catalog than

“i need your grace”

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 21:36 (two years ago) link

it's good, just never felt like a standout to me? "slide"'s sibling

ufo, Friday, 26 November 2021 21:38 (two years ago) link

how dare you undervalue this perfect jewel of a song

Hell yes to Laser Beam in the top 10.

that's not my post, Friday, 26 November 2021 21:47 (two years ago) link

I think about 'Violence' whenever I lend someone a book.

ceci n'est pas une messi (cajunsunday), Friday, 26 November 2021 21:50 (two years ago) link

Ah there it is, phew! The unassailable distillation of what makes Low - perfect economical sound, those themes of violence, trust - feels like the grandfather of everything ever they've done, in a way. Never any question.

Amazing song.

I know it's a bulb, but I always think the cover of Long Division is a bottle nipple.

seems like earlier low is gonna rule the top ten huh

quite surprised about number six. laser beam was my number one. i know what my odds are for number one...!

maelin, Friday, 26 November 2021 22:40 (two years ago) link

hm maybe my no. 1 didn’t make it. do you all like “tonight” as much as i do or no

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 22:47 (two years ago) link

I think it was on the other thread but I definitely had no idea “amazing grace” was liked so well. In the bottom half of their admittedly great track record of album openers (Words, Sunflower, Monkey, White Horses, etc.)

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Friday, 26 November 2021 22:49 (two years ago) link

trust has some good tunes but i feel like the production is so... distant and indirect for the most part

maelin, Friday, 26 November 2021 22:52 (two years ago) link

hm, i feel exactly the opposite

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 22:52 (two years ago) link

kinda like that time i saw them in halifax minister for a christmas show but i was drunk off two miniature bottles of red wine from the train ride and stood behind a pillar at the back for the whole show

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 23:02 (two years ago) link

devastated* but i’m also devastating

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 23:02 (two years ago) link

That one and the other one taken as a given, but i'm scratching my head at the 3rd one.

I’d honestly written this song off for placing once the 20 and under results started showing. Really really great to see it’s placement here.

called it

maelin, Friday, 26 November 2021 23:29 (two years ago) link

wait y’all knew murderer would be no. 1? i assumed waltz

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Friday, 26 November 2021 23:30 (two years ago) link

Wow. I know “Waltz” is beloved but I’d honestly like to hear from others about giving “Murderer” such high marks.

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Friday, 26 November 2021 23:33 (two years ago) link

XP completely shocked. It was my #1 and had no thought it was in that circle of reverence. I knew the EP version was preferred by the heads but that was it.

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Friday, 26 November 2021 23:36 (two years ago) link

there's something about the mellotron(?) & bass progression & the opening lines that makes it so definitive, final, resolute. it feels like the complete epitome, like the last song they could have ever written. they could have stopped there and it would have been perfect, but im so glad they didnt.
