olshey's a dead man walking and i'm sure he knows it, why they're giving him all this lead time to shred all the records i don't really know

Clay, Tuesday, 9 November 2021 23:54 (two years ago) link

Sixers are bringing Curry and Green off the bench I guess, which means none of their starters are in the starting lineup.

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 00:37 (two years ago) link

Korkmaz and Niang have been solid lately. Milton is off the IR and making shots. Good depth.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 00:43 (two years ago) link

Niang's been great and they've been shooting well as a team from 3 which I think has been covering up a lot of issues.

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 00:46 (two years ago) link

Maxey is hooping 4 sure.

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 00:46 (two years ago) link

Niang never misses a shot when I watch him

Drummond contract year push is very impressive but also last year was a contract year? Why didn’t you do it then

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 02:01 (two years ago) link

mb he forgot

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 02:11 (two years ago) link

this spectrum-style court design is dope as fuck. sixers designers still best in the league.

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has been suspended one game for shoving Miami’s Markieff Morris from behind Monday night.

wild that the warriors are 9-1 while steph "curry" is well below his usual numbers. also the #1 defense despite starting wiggins

ciderpress, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 03:06 (two years ago) link

Another good game from Grayson Allen, who is not a bad NBA player

wiggins is a solid defender now, and stephs defense has never been better either. draymond is as active as ive ever seen him. things are clicking at the moment but their schedules been pretty easy. whooping bad/mediocre teams is a good thing tho.

hey so uh

whats happening with the hawks? 4-8 and in the 13th spot in the east rn

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 04:46 (two years ago) link

this seems right

Man it’s so wild that Nate McMillan saw the first real coaching success of his career doing the opposite of everything he’s ever done and then still said “nah fuck that I’m doing things my way this year”

i’ve read that capela hasn’t looked healthy

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 05:11 (two years ago) link

they look a lot like they did at the beginning of last season. i'm not worried. Capela sat out the whole preseason so he's getting back in shape like a few others. they look like fire for stretches and then go completely cold. it's really like a mirror image of last season's start. also, i see all the things blaming it on McMillan but this seems more like a players issue

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 13:43 (two years ago) link

definitely need Okongwu back. so excited to see that kid develop

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 13:44 (two years ago) link

dame complaining about the rules now. so weve got harden, trae and dame complaining so far? cos lol

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 16:34 (two years ago) link

they put a lot of effort into exploiting the rules then the league goes and changes them, i can understand why theyre upset

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 16:36 (two years ago) link

yeah for sure its just funny/predictable the ones that are in strongest opposition to it. the natural ballers have moved on and made the adjustments.

harden has never looked happier than when he got this call

― Heez, Thursday, 11 November 2021 12:43 AM

thats mcmillans dark genius - he somehow makes it look like the players fault

micah, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:17 (two years ago) link

feel like given the relative youth of the hawks they still don't have tons of guys you can rely on night to night. prob will have some heaters and then some colder stretches. pretty anonymous years so far from a number of their guys... bogdanovic, huerter in particular seems out of wack, hunter's offense is up and down at best, collins' percentages are up but his overall scoring is down. they've also been on a pretty brutal road trip

going into the season i thought they'd blaze thru the regular season and then fall short a bit in the playoffs but perhaps it will be the opposite. their roster gives them line up flexibility which is maybe more advantageous in the playoffs where you can pick out match ups but hurting them a bit in the regular season where mcmillan is like kinda throwing shit at the wall? idk

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:35 (two years ago) link

Yeah I totally see them hitting top form in the new year

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:57 (two years ago) link

One thing I’ve noticed is that teams are focusing def on not giving trae lobs

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:59 (two years ago) link

The Hawks are stacked with talent so I think it’s fair to be concerned about what is going on there

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:05 (two years ago) link

one game its cam going off, next game its hunter, next game its huerter, then its bogdo. they need to figure out their pecking order and roles. overabundance of talent is a good problem to have tho.

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:07 (two years ago) link

they're 27th in defensive rating right now. not much else matters until that gets back to averageish.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:11 (two years ago) link

yeah the defense has been glaringly bad

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:12 (two years ago) link

team defense that is

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:13 (two years ago) link

losing 5 straight but the 5 are nets, jazz, suns, warriors, jazz w/ 4 of those on the road isn't necessarily a huge cause for alarm, tho several of those have been borderline non competitive based on the final scores and that phx game they blew a big lead which hurts. they have nuggets on the road and then bucks next two so it might get worse but their schedule is much easier in december so it feels like a wait and see where they're at come the new year for me

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:18 (two years ago) link

also contra the prevailing narrative it's possible nate mcmillon wasn't sprinkling any magic on that team and was simply just not the previous coach that they hated and now that aspect of their situation is crashing back to earth

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:21 (two years ago) link

the one thing i read when they were on their run last year was players saying pierce didn't really have them run plays and the one thing mcmillan did was actually like, have plays that would organize the offense. so that seems tangible to me. i do think they have some rotation stuff to figure out and not sure i trust him to do a great job with that, but if they can clean up the defense (which is very much related to getting capela to a better place) they should still be a strong team.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:36 (two years ago) link

feel like the hawks have a lot of guys but they all have pretty big question marks and the new physicality could be worse for trae than any other player

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:58 (two years ago) link

hopefully well settle into some happy medium as far as the refs not calling fouls

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:59 (two years ago) link

Outside of a few outliers that have been posted here, I'm pretty much fine with how they are calling things this year.

But I tend to think, like the NFL, the NBA has gone too far in tipping the scales to offense, even though I know I'm in the minority. Where it is so far this year seems like a happy medium.

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 21:25 (two years ago) link

i loved the freedom of movement hand checking fouls that were introduced in ~06 and to my eye those are still in tact this season. feel like the focus is on weird non-normal basketball moves to get calls and thats no issue with me.

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 21:43 (two years ago) link

new kg profile dropped

The most mind-blowing detail in this @MichaelVPina profile of Kevin Garnett is that his favorite movie is Seredipity????? (Second best anecdote being that he once head-butted a hole in the wall while watching Making The Band.) KG is the greatest. https://t.co/KORAeNi9TN pic.twitter.com/JKOLWmdhrU

at the moment all missed calls are being attributed to the new reffing meta but... the refs miss calls every year for no reason at all

micah, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 23:04 (two years ago) link

ive seen a few games already that were just so physical, obvs i support eliminating foul begging to the extent its possible

some wild deviations in how rookies are starting the season, dont think it means too much, not long ago guys his age just werent getting xp

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:55 (two years ago) link

if a rookie is genuinely doing eye popping things like mobley or green thats cool and meaningful, but if a rookie is bad especially at the beginning of the season i dont think it means too much

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:57 (two years ago) link

i do now think that taking scottie barnes ahead of suggs was the right move tho lol
