Feel like the Dems dropping basically every popular provision in their bill in favor of more tax cuts for the rich might go hand in hand with this

Charlottesville is nice. Most of the Nazis were from out of town.

At least we only have another year of having to care about Joe Manchin's opinion on anything?

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 3 November 2021 00:56 (two years ago) link

oh hell yeah

Some in Biden-land are already asking themselves if the president has allowed himself to be tugged too far to the left while in office, and those voices are likely to get louder now.

geez, its almost as if half the country thinks all Dem power is illegitimate and that therefore the events of Jan 6 were rad as hell

gah this shit just fucking gets me incensed. I understand that the pendulum swings in this country but it sucks so fucking much that Trump was able to replace an entire third of the judiciary, including 3 goddamn Supreme Court justices, and incite this country into a literal insurrection, while when the pendulum swings our way all we get is a shitty moderate who can't even rally his party to do the massively popular things he ran on

Dems should’ve locked the Manchin/Sinema/etc type members of the party in a janitorial closet the second Biden won to mobshit them from letting this stuff from happening.

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Wednesday, 3 November 2021 06:08 (two years ago) link

milo sharing that shit is not helpful

Nothing helpful exists, tho. Not being snarky about Democratic incompetence and venality isn't going to make them any better. On a day when they trip over their own feet electorally, the news about the bill that has occupied the last nine months of their time is a laughable prescription reform and centrists trying to give money to rich people.

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 3 November 2021 06:17 (two years ago) link

but I mean, the core of the randy tweet is also true so it's hard to even call it snark

Dem members are already texting me blaming progressives for “debacle” in Virginia https://t.co/MJnlDzW5WF

bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Wednesday, 3 November 2021 06:21 (two years ago) link

With everything going on it is absolutely wild how committed the Democratic Party is to polishing the balls of a guy like me: an exceedingly comfortable white straight cis male careening into middle age (and southern to boot. seriously, if you heard my accent you would literally never stop throwing up). I have no kids and will most likely be dead before major fallout from climate change hits, or at least I’ll be cosseted from the worst of it. My entire life’s savings is in stock index funds, and wouldn’t you know it there are only like three things both parties agree on without fail—one being Line Can Never Ever Go Down again . At this point I probably have more equity in my home than I paid for it, and I’m more or less a fucking LANDLORD loool.

If the Democratic Party wants to make *me* one of their top priorities I guess all I can say is “thanks, dummies”. But I’m sure af not giving them any more money. And honestly, barring a few outliers, probably not many votes either.

I don't know if it's that simple, looks like GOP turnout was way up in both VA and NJ which I don't think you can attribute to the Dems failing to deliver anything

Well unlike Alabama the Dems did legalize weed and abolish the death penalty. Virginia just a couple decades ago was as enthusiastic as Texas about using the death penalty.

A Pile of Ants (Boring, Maryland), Wednesday, 3 November 2021 13:13 (two years ago) link

As a NJ resident, it's shocking to see this race so close. All the polls beforehand made it seem Murphy didn't have much to worry about. To be honest, I almost didn't bother to vote. I guess a lot of people probably saw the polls and thought like I did.

o. nate, Wednesday, 3 November 2021 13:19 (two years ago) link

Obviously McAuliffe is a creep and he ran a terrible campaign that had no identifiable message unlike Youngkin and his constant drumming of “think of the children.”

Also Blame Dem primary voters who rejected two progressive black women.

A Pile of Ants (Boring, Maryland), Wednesday, 3 November 2021 13:21 (two years ago) link

I voted for Jennifer Carroll Foy, who might also have lost, but it would have felt like a nobler struggle. Perhaps there's an alternate universe in which she prevailed. McAuliffe, ugh, never presented a positive case. Just "I'm not the scary guy." Perhaps there are alternate universes where that worked.

This universe? Fucking sucks, is how I feel rn
