BETTER CHEDDARS FUCKIN UP THE CHEESE CRACKER GAME

Okay, guys, seriously. Listen. LISTEN! I bought this box of Snyders of Hanover's hard sourdough pretzels. Have been eating them since a kid. I have long liked to take them in the shower to eat. I don't know why. They are my only shower food. One day the Snyders QC people got rid of the bubbles that would back into the crust of the pretzels. The bubbled up crust, that dark brown part of the pretzel, was the best part, and I loved to eat off the bubbles before eating the rest. They could only ruin this pretzel, though, by somehow getting rid of the dark part altogether. The knots at the end where the pretzel is colored really dark and most of the salt gets stuck is my new favorite part.

So, I bought this box and there were a lot of broken pretzels in it. There was a Beck lyric that goes "smokin' broken pretzels" that has always stuck with me. Who didn't used to smoke broken stick pretzels? A-holes, maybe? Okay, so when I got to the end of the box there were few pretzels I wanted to choose from. I poured what was left into a cereal bowl, careful not to pour too much of the salt in. Then I scooped a few scoops of Dannon's all natural vanilla ice cream into the bowl and stirred the mixture up.

IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN IT SHOULD'VE BEEN! This could become a regular thing.

that would bake into, not back into

That sounds good to me. I'm into salty/sweet.

Lol @ "A-holes, maybe?"

salty sweet is awesome. y'all had salted caramel stuff?

tehresa, Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:11 (fourteen years ago) link

Salted caramel ice cream! Also balsamic strawberry. Both can be had from Bi-Rite in the Mission. I wish every town had a weird ice cream parlor.

I had a big essay against any food that comes on plates with dots of syrup artfully surrounding it and stuff but the sense of it was: better cheddars do not need fancy presentation to get shit done. therefore, I support better cheddars against that thing that looks like a gulab jamun between two oreos.

The south has more trees and if you keep going south I think you end up in Dollywood.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 10:13 (fourteen years ago) link

We should start a 1p3 thread about this.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 10:14 (fourteen years ago) link

But only Roxy, nickalicious and I would post.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 10:14 (fourteen years ago) link

inspired by thread i went looking for better cheddars at the supermarket across the street. the closest thing they had was flavor blasted cheddar cheese goldfish which were a solid A- snackfood, but did not quite satisfy the craving.

ian, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 19:46 (fourteen years ago) link

For the past couple of years, I've only really liked the whole wheat goldfish - they seem to extend the flavor somehow.

Someday, I'm going to actually knuckel down and make myself some cheese grissini.

scott seward, Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:23 (fourteen years ago) link

this is a rip of something they did in the uk right? i am pretty sure i saw that around here. chili lime ftw already, although i guess i will end up trying all of these if i see them. maybe not the chocolate ones, i dunno.

cheddar beer pretty dang good

aarrissi-a-roni, Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:25 (fourteen years ago) link

cheddar beer is HIGHLY recommended. only flavor that leaves me cold is sweet onion.

omaha deserved 311 (call all destroyer), Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:25 (fourteen years ago) link

sweet onion is awesome for the first couple chips then by the end of the bag i never want to eat them again. but sometimes that's all they have at the store near work and i am not all that smart.

aarrissi-a-roni, Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:27 (fourteen years ago) link

wow, kettle chips in america have whole other dimensions to them apparently. weird, i always thought they were an english thing

probably the only edible salt + adjective vinegar chip on the market though

xposts walker did a thing in the uk where they asked ppl to submit flavours, and then six of them came on to the market for a brief period

none of them were very good though

thomp, Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:28 (fourteen years ago) link

i took the flavor profile test on the kettle website:

You Are
Yogurt & Green Onion
You're cool. Yeah. You know it. Laid back, easy-going and breezy. Nothing ruffles your feathers. You're the one everyone wants around in a crisis. You keep your head about you. You may even walk around like you own this place. Underneath your cool exterior, though, is a passionate, self-possessed person who knows what's right and what's good.

i'm 'classic barbecue'

So sweet and sultry, you're a dusky summer evening. You like to savor the slow pleasures in life. You're willing to wait for a good thing and you know how to bring out the best in others. You're a good neighbor, but you're also sometimes the mysterious stranger. You know how to relax and take it easy. When your friends just want to have an easy good time, they call you.

this is probably the only time i will ever be described as 'sultry'

thomp, Thursday, 26 November 2009 17:36 (fourteen years ago) link

ok these women in the shelter tonight have made some crazy casserole with broccoli and cheese and whats on top? CHEEZITS IMO
