where's the evidence that kevin drew is antivax? i did a bit of googling around but all I could find were a few tweets by people saying that he was..

I'm guessing both vaccine card and an ID to show that it's your name on the card. That's the requirement in sf, though rarely completely enforced.

Whoa, really? Every bar and restaurant I've been over the past few months in SF & Oakland has completely enforced the card + ID check. ... Granted, that's a total of 5 different places, and I am not saying you are wrong.

The recent shift from summer to fall has led to some awkwardness as many places that had outdoor dining and drinking are shutting down that aspect even though they still have the parklets in place.

Whereas here in Florida those spaces are expanding again.

I'm the type of person that, weather cooperating, preferred eating outside PRE-pandemic

xxxp - I always have to show my vax card but pretty rarely ID. I don't go to bars though, and only hit up restaurants for lunch in downtown sf.

If this dude walked in with Julian Casablancas' vax card I'd also probably ask for i.d.

In that pic with the mic he looks like someone who's spent the last 20 years snorting one continuous line of coke. To the point where he's probably trying to snort that mic.

I saw the Strokes at that same festival (Outside Lands) ten years ago and I was kind of blown away at how funny he was on stage. The opposite of all the other bands playing their "80,000 people are watching us" sets. He seemed drunk but in a show-enhancer type of way. They fuckin' killed it, and I don't really know much about the Strokes, other than they killed it at Outside Lands ten years ago. But his stage banter was even better than the music.

"It's so cool to be playing in the woods. It's like Last of the Mohs."

I don't know if I'm describing it well but the detached, deadpan delivery had people, including me, falling down laughing. Delayed laughter that infected the entire crowd. Took a few seconds to process what he'd said.

Later they played "Last Nite" and he sang "American Girl" over the entire song.

I don't get why people think those songs sound the same. I guess there are a few fleeting similarities? Tempo? Anyway, the only time I saw the Strokes they were opening for Tom Petty. They were fine.

in retrospect, one of my few "right place right time" shows was seeing the strokes somewhere in STL at a tiny, tiny club, just when they blew up

they were excellent

We saw them 4-5 times, in their prime... the best was at Universal (Gibson) Ampitheatre (R.I.P.); Julian came into the pit with a super-long mic cord, and walked around singing while everyone went nuts around him. It was pretty memorable...

I love those first two albums - they actually make a nice double. (I remember burning them on to one disc since they ran under 40 minutes each, and it more or less felt seamless.) I missed all the hype they got in 2001, but even though I never got into album #3 and the rest, they seemed pretty excellent for a short while.

everyone who isn’t a herb knows the first two albums are solid

Is ILM on a mission to bring "herb" back into regular use again?
