this show is very strange for me, and this might be a weird me thing, but i find i enjoy remembering sketches on this show more than i enjoy them when i'm actually watching it? (this isn't quite accurate but the best way i can put it)

It very much is "grower" humor; no matter how much I laugh at a sketch, I become incapacitated when I think back to it (and subsequent watches are even funnier to me, which isn't exactly what you're describing but related)

I'm the opposite, I think I've become a little inoculated to it! I still recognize its genius without actually laughing.

I can see that but OTOH I just had "What is her job?" pop into my head and I can't stop giggling

also the structure/characters/tone can be repetitive over the course of an episode so the moments shine more in isolation (ie when you think back on them)

I just blasted through the whole series since my brother's been on me forever to watch it. And we both kinda said the same thing. I keep having flashbacks where I'm like, wait, that was way funnier than my initial reaction to it would suggest. Like I just keep thinking about that Conner O'Malley character depicting a third grader's notion of what horniness entails and it's killing me.

Part of it is that Tim Robinson's brain operates on a slightly different comedic wavelength than the wavelengths I'm familiar with so it took me some time to reconfigure my own brain accordingly. Like I watched the first episode when the series was initially released and the toilet paper sketch just kept going on and on, creating this needlessly and increasingly convoluted uncomfortable situation, and I just figured that it was a matter of the premise shooting past his intentions and landing with a thud. And now I realize that that vibe is pretty much precisely what he's going for more often than not.
