A clip of Bonamassa and Clapton just showed up in my fb feed and it sucked so hard, yet it sucked in such a suble, hard to pinpoint way. They do everything right, everything spot on, and they are completely scrubbed clean of anything poetic, anything resembling actual suffering, anything ambiguous, anything surprising. They are a well-oiled blues machine. They sound like BB King and they feel like BB-8.

Torn between lol-cringe and grudging respect for this bozo. He comes through town seems like once a year, plays at 1,000-1,500 seat theaters, I like that it's still possible to do that road warrior thing and build a niche audience. Just don't make me go to a show plz.

ums, you are right of course. He's become a fun pinata to whack at because (a) many people think his music is boring as fuck, and (b) because he is praised by a certain sort of person whose tastes do not align with mine.

But I do not really wish him (or anyone) harm, as a person. There are a lot of people making music that I don't need to hear, and they are not necessarily bad people. Mocking his hair, clothing, and/or guitar choices is (comparatively) innocent fun.
