By the by, I was thinking that my urge to move is so total most of the time, that I rarely reach that desireless baseline (bassline) of consciousness that simply is. Shame it needs a lethal virus to remind me, but there it is.

Feeling much better, finally. Still knackered but the constant headache has passed and coughing/sneezing minimal. One weird corollary: I've never had two weeks off in my working life (nothing more than a couple of days here and there) and I feel like a fraud and that I'm stitching up all my work colleagues who have to pick up the slack. Sure, what goes around comes around and all that but it's a horrible feeling.

I had a leftover Abbott home test from an earlier scare (good to have on hand, though maybe not super reliable) which tested positive. I was not caught off guard as I was starting to feel pretty crummy. Went down to my HMO (Kaiser) on Saturday and got the real test (drive-up), the results came in this morning.
Pretty sure this is my second infection, I had something in March 2020 with the exact same symptoms, right as the Bay Area was becoming an epicenter (while I was riding public transport daily, and nobody had started wearing masks).

I've had/am having cough, chills, congestion, and a mild 'fever' which never got above 100.8*. I also have the weird sunburn feeling across my back and shoulders that some folks have reported. I don't have that great a sense of smell anyway, but I can smell fresh coffee, whisky, and not much else.

Fortunately, I'm pretty well stocked with groceries, but I wish I had bought more TP on my last trip out. My GF and friends have offered to drop stuff by, I'll be okay... just already bored stiff, I usually like to go for a long walk after work.

Oh, and I had a single dose J&J in April.. was starting to shop around for a booster, I guess I waited too long.

So I've been hauled back into this shit. Started the early part of this week with a monstrous headache and I'm back off work, utterly exhausted. I've had blood tests and, aside from a mild Vitamin D deficiency, I'm in the clear for anything *worse* but honestly, I feel grim and fed up and fuck this.

started feeling bad Thursday last week, bed ridden with flu-like shit Saturday (Saturday was the apex, high fever, delirium etc.) to Monday. Tuesday I felt well enough to be out of bed, pondered getting tested but didn't really want to leave the apartment. then all of a sudden I realized I couldn't smell at all despite not being congested, for the first time in days. went and got tested, tested positive.

weird thing is that for weeks before this I had felt rundown and had intermittent coughing fits. I didn't get tested because my wife gave me that illness and tested negative. but it feels like this was a continuation of the same illness.

public health tells me I can go back to normal activities on Monday.

wife now has it, not quite as bad as I did but is pretty sick. I also think my cat has it, he has a case of the sneezes. but seems ok otherwise

oh, and my weird symptom. tingling semi-numbness in my left index finger.

I spent my birthday alone at home in early November with this shit... my smell & taste have mostly returned (somewhat dulled), but I had a weird hacking coughing fit the other night. Most mornings I'll cough a bit, and it's been over a month; I tested positive right before halloween.

(And a buddy that caught it at the same time that I did has reported extended coughing spells)

I still have the cough and smell isn't at 100% but otherwise pretty fine.

Welp, I had managed to keep myself and my family Corona-free since last March, up until this week. Started getting chills and muscle aches on Monday, got tested and result came back positive. No coughing/breathing issues, just lots of sneezing and nose blowing. Tuesday and Wednesday were the worst, but today's almost back to normal, except the complete lack of smell and taste is crazy-making.

I'm isolating in our downstairs family room to try to keep my wife and kid from getting it. So far, so good. Thank goodness for Criterion channel!

I wasn't boostered yet but being in Canada I didn't get my second vaccination until late July so I'm not even at 6 months yet. probably be able to get one next month. think actually having the thing and then getting a booster will mean I'll be antibodied up the ying yang.

booster booked for about 2.5 hours time but i woke up with an odd taste in my mouth and a face that was burning so i guess i'd better cancel that, along with any Christmas plans i had.

been feeling ropey for about a week, cold symptoms mainly, slight temperature, the odd ache but can't really ignore this and certainly don't want to be mixing with a room full of unboosted people.

did a lateral flow test yesterday and it was negative, but i don't really trust my method seeing as it was the first time. I'll do another in an hour or so but am already pretty decided to skip the booster appointment

had a bunch of this all last week, along with what looked and felt like an infection on right ring finger that made it hurt and hard to bend. figured that was the cause of my slight temperature, although i don't remember doing anything to cause it. and that's gone down over the last two days, is almost back to normal

If you've got a temperature I'd do a PCR test. sorry. good luck !

Aw, thanks Alfred, I'm back to normal other than lack of taste and smell, which are improving daily. I consider myself extremely fortunate that symptoms were relatively mild and short-lived, and that my wife and kid tested negative.

yeah, this has been on my mind as well. especially living alone. i will run out of bread / milk a few days before the end of isolation and then when i can go out the shops'll be closed for another 2 days anyway! (maybe more given mon and tue are bank holidays).

i think the window for me getting negative pcr, being free(?), getting booster and making it home has already closed though. (vulnerable people at home, so i don't think unboosted is an option) ((not that he seems to care but...))

koogs, have you tried the weird hyper-fast grocery apps? they all seem to have intro promo codes so you could get essentials delivered by them (like Getir, Gorillas, and so on. I think there are at least 5 in London and all seem to constantly be running massive discounts that mean they aren't much more expensive than actual grocery stores. I don't like their business models for the long term, but this might be a time where they are useful)
