Yes, thank you! I keep meaning to listen to these, I love this music but don't have an in to keep up with it except what I randomly hear in mixes.

What DJs are playing it? (Aside from Brazilians obv.)

Jackmaster still throws some in his sets but for ten years he’s been mining the same old vein of big room techno mixed with some baile funk, garage, and commercial R&B. It works for the lads in Glasgow I guess, that dance floor had more toxic masculinity than anywhere I’ve danced (except possibly when d&b had its big room moment in SF and all the rockers came out to see Grooverider). Would love to hear some baile funk in its native setting, if it wasn’t too risky tbh.

Some very choice cuts there flopson! The Trajado de Glock tune especially is quite nicely abstract. The one by DJ Wesley Gonzaga sounds like they’ve put a digital glitch effect on the vocals, wild.

there's a lot of it that has better production value, more standard pop song structure with lots of singing, more r&b influenced. but i'm most drawn to the super raw amateurish repetitive stuff

mc rd & mc bn - fogo no parquinho (remix)

Same, or at least I like the more stark minimal tracks. By mixes I mean token tracks in a mix by a NYC or UK DJ tbh. I should trawl youtube more...this guy's French but there are some cool tracks:

This is for sure a style that works better when it’s raw and minimal instead of polished and poppy.

Flopson that Fogo No Parquinho is lit! (Translates as “Fire In The Park”?)
