Ok, that is obviously extremely "on the nose," but I think that may be the best thing that Amanda Palmer has ever done. I don't think it's "creative genius", but it's not the worst idea in the world and they executed it pretty well. Additionally, I really like the natural eyebrow look as opposed to her trademark artsy doodle thing.

I wonder what it would do to my personality if everything I did were greeted with hundreds of comments like that. Seriously, I think it would change me.

three months pass...

Amanda Palmer is many things: musician and Dresden Dolls lead singer, writer, performer, activist, mom, and self-described “happy and hyper-social weirdo who likes making feelings into art.” Starting in February, she’ll be adding Substack Writer in Residence to her long list of creative pursuits with the debut of her new publication, Ask Amanda.

Amanda’s new publication will explore the possibilities of the direct relationship between a writer and reader community with a fresh spin on the advice column format that she calls “a crowd-sourced, everybody talk, conversation salon, kicked off by questions from you” and accompanied by original artwork from longtime collaborator Sarah Beetson.

I've learned to brace myself for the worst when this thread gets bumped, but this was disappointingly low on the APCES (Amanda Palmer Cringe Event Scale). I give it a 3 out of 10.

maybe it’s hosted on Jeremy Renner’s social media app?

assert (matttkkkk), Thursday, 20 January 2022 20:29 (two years ago) link

that would bump it up to an easy 4/10

i think my most cherished amanda palmer byproduct is the consternation that arises whenever she pulls another innocuous stunt. omg she’s writing a column o no!!!

effortless trolling, it is like an art, she should sell a series of seminars (because peeps wld get mad and it wld be funny)

just a rehash of one of her original controversies (crowdsourcing her string sections and not paying them for their labor). i give it a C-

Is it a coincidence she and Chait announced Substacks on the same day or do the Substack masters read ILX?

I don't dare look back through the thread to find out, but has she done NFTs yet?

i went to two conversation salons earlier today, except they were called meetings. she should like set up a zoom room or google hangout and charge people to enter and watch her check her email.
