His most listened to artists are stuff like Chihei Hatakeyama, Jon Hassell and Harold Budd so it's some pretty niche trolling if it is trolling.

of the people i follow, and myself, the upper limit of songs listened to in a week is usually around 300-400 or so

and then there's the dearly departed electric sound of jim at 1000+

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 April 2022 01:25 (two years ago) link

Following, Neechy!

I just got it talking to my Spotify yesterday and already at 300+ scrobbles.

FYI: the first song I ever scrobbled was "Penny Arcade" by the Cyrkle, which was played at 7.43am on an October morning in 2009. I'm sure this is only funny to me, but sure okay: coffee and corn why not.

Thought this thread revive might be about the news regarding a co-founder who sold Lasttfm for £23m: "Taxpayer-backed tech tycoon charged with sex assault"

xp

I doubt it if he's listening to 1000+ tracks a week. I'm sure he just means that he departed ilx?

Just noticed this new feature

for my weekly scrobbles I'm in 3rd place with 513 with ESOJim in 2nd on 1088 but top place is someone I don't know who I randomly added at some point with 4007!

Unless you've got apps double/triple counting, how is that even possible?

That's like listening 24/7 with an average track length of two and a half minutes

Maybe they just leave Spotify running

made entirely of styrofoam (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 4 April 2022 16:32 (two years ago) link

The newfangled Last.fm just asks if you want to grant access between them and Spotify. No need to to download the scrobbler or the app. Whenever I play something on Spotify, it registers. Of course, anything played on my iPod or elsewhere doesn't scrobble. Oh well.

First week back into it and:

961 Scrobbles
You scrobbled on average more than 96% of all Last.fm users this week.

You would think I'd spend my time listening to something other than "telepatía" but here we are.

Let's disco dance, Hammurabi! (Austin), Friday, 8 April 2022 15:31 (two years ago) link

Also not to be all like, "HEY LOOKAH ME!" but I've been binging DJ Muro on YouTube. So if I'm not currently listening on Spotify, there's like a 98% chance I'm either sleeping or listening to DJ Muro. I wish there was a way to scrobble those mixes. I used to have a link to a web-based "manual scrobbler" but I think Last.fm started blocking it. Anybody know of anything?

Thanks for pointing this out! I’d resigned myself to no longer getting my phone plays scrobbled since moving to Apple Music on my Mac and hadn’t thought about the app in years.

love the idea of this more than i could keep up with scrobblin (made several false starts with the Spotify linkage, Android apps that watch other apps, the manual open scrobbling, etc). Still gonna bookmark this thread as a way to find good suggestions. thanks for the profile links.

thanks Austin for mentioning DJ Muro, i haven't thought of him in years. I am filling up a USB stick for my new used car and these mixes will go great

I still scrobble for my own amusement, but the social nature of the site largely died years ago, once concert listings were removed and the disastrous redesign happened. A decade ago, the site was so popular that, at least in my country, a lot of one’s hipster friends were scrobbling there. Plus, it was easy to make new real-life friends by seeing who else in your town was listening to X and arranging to meet up. That doesn’t really happen anymore.

Melomane, Wednesday, 23 November 2022 18:26 (one year ago) link

my android scrobbler stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I had no idea until yesterday, was easy to reset, but lost all those scribbles, annoying, this is not the first time either.

link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 23 November 2022 18:41 (one year ago) link

I wasn't aware of any issues scrobbling on Macs although as I play music through two I know that it works fine on one but then for scrobbles to be logged from the other I have to start a new session or resume it back on the first Mac.

And so yeah the obsession just about continues.
