strong work by the rays

mookieproof, Saturday, 2 October 2021 19:54 (two years ago) link

if soto doesn't start burying the sox i'm rescinding my MVP vote

, Saturday, 2 October 2021 20:22 (two years ago) link

tingler out, if you know what i mean

mookieproof, Saturday, 2 October 2021 20:37 (two years ago) link

they're gonna bring in buck

, Saturday, 2 October 2021 20:43 (two years ago) link

athletic article yesterday suggested that no veteran name manager will want to put up with preller’s micromanaging, but i imagine some combination of money + having good young players will do the trick

mookieproof, Saturday, 2 October 2021 21:09 (two years ago) link

biggest AB of soto's career right here

, Saturday, 2 October 2021 23:09 (two years ago) link

sox are killing me here. renfro loses it in the… twilight? why’s he playing center in the 8th inning of a 1-0 game anyway??

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 2 October 2021 23:18 (two years ago) link

That pitch the Boston reliever was so upset about: could have been called a strike, but not an obvious strike by any means.

clemenza, Saturday, 2 October 2021 23:20 (two years ago) link

(xpost) For you and me, but not for Soto, I don't think.

clemenza, Saturday, 2 October 2021 23:22 (two years ago) link

Soto's a bum

, Saturday, 2 October 2021 23:30 (two years ago) link

so the sox and yankees will take the wild cards with wins on sunday; with losses, they'll at least get a game 163

boston won the season series against each of the other three, so should play at home in case of ties

chris sale is slated to pitch for the sox tomorrow in what is not now a must-win game -- but if they lose they could face two straight must-win games instead of one. do you still start him?

also the yankees are facing michael wacha tomorrow, which would seem to bode well for them

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 00:46 (two years ago) link

Always bet against post-rookie Wacha

Even this Mariners game right now is nuts.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 3 October 2021 04:39 (two years ago) link

Still a chance for a four-way wild card tie going into the last day of the season

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 3 October 2021 04:54 (two years ago) link

omg if there’s a four-way tie boston and toronto would be at home for game 163 and the yankees would choose which one they wanted to play

CURRENT POSSIBILITIES (YES, THIS ALL COULD HAPPEN)

Four-way tie: Boston, Toronto, New York, Seattle

Three-way tie 1: Boston, Seattle, Toronto

Three-way tie 2: Boston, New York, Seattle

Three-way tie 3: Boston, Toronto, New York

Three-way tie 4: Toronto, New York, Seattle

the yankees would choose which one they wanted to play

That's amazing. Win or lose, at least you wouldn't have to play whichever team you insult again.

clemenza, Sunday, 3 October 2021 05:09 (two years ago) link

very much want this to happen

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 05:18 (two years ago) link

that is insane

mens rea activist (k3vin k.), Sunday, 3 October 2021 10:52 (two years ago) link

The Jays will need to reach the WC game via tiebreaker anyway so I'm rooting for the most chaotic possible outcomes. Four way tie!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 3 October 2021 13:19 (two years ago) link

let's gooooo

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 19:05 (two years ago) link

Wild card races are like “these teams suck by this exact same amount “

ncxkd, Sunday, 3 October 2021 19:31 (two years ago) link

mariners looking hapless.... maybe we'll get another dorktown video out of this at least

, Sunday, 3 October 2021 19:51 (two years ago) link

If you're not watching the Jays broadcast, you might not know this: Vlad has now hit more HR than anyone 22 or younger ever (passed Eddie Matthews).

clemenza, Sunday, 3 October 2021 19:59 (two years ago) link

Second most in a season for a blue Jay too.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:00 (two years ago) link

sox went with sale *and* it didn't work

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:22 (two years ago) link

he didn’t have it but i’m kind of shocked he was lifted so early? saving him for tuesday?

starting to think verdugo’s a bit of an idiot

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:24 (two years ago) link

that'll about do it for the NL west

kind of unfortunate that if we even get a SF-LAD series it'll only be five games

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:33 (two years ago) link

the real world series tbrr

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:36 (two years ago) link

well michael wacha certainly did his job

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 20:43 (two years ago) link

rays offense once again costing team ace michael wacha his well earned win

5-1 Nationals!

Of the 10,000 dumb ideas MLB ever had, the synchronized last-day finish--which I assume was inspired by the wild finish that one year--has to rank near the top.

Amazing. I’ve got the Rays / Yankees on the 2nd monitor now

I was wondering if randy was going to try stealing home, because it definitely looked like the bats weren’t going to get him there.

5-3 Nationals, Boston poised for more. I've got a bad feeling.

Alex Verdugo all is forgiven!!

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 3 October 2021 21:53 (two years ago) link

5-5. Relying on other teams is the worst.

love too get the extra-inning ghost runner in a season-deciding situation

mookieproof, Sunday, 3 October 2021 22:03 (two years ago) link

Fuck--2nd and 3rd, Yankees, one out.
