We beat York at their place last season too, when they were top of the league.

A missed penalty and then a miskick by their keeper seems to have been enough to sink them. Sounds like it was quite an open game, but only a couple of clear-cut chances each.

happy for Sorba to get his first full Welsh cap. But playing him as a fullback and not letting him near the set-pieces and especially when Wilson/James were wasting them all is a criminal waste of his talent.

What's weird is all the defensive Cardiff replies, like, 'no it's not, that's only one of the teams support doing that' - what do they think happens at an Old Firm game?

I see the 95th minute enjoyer has once again deigned to comment on the pain and suffering of the lower orders

yes I'm okay yes of course I'm okay we're gonna smash Stanley later oh yes

it seems Adkins is at that stage where (to probably misquote Gianni Paladini in Four Year Plan) "When managers start losing games all the time, they lose their fucking minds.."

calzino, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 10:57 (two years ago) link

We have drawn four consecutive games 2-2.

Tim, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 12:06 (two years ago) link

I hate seeing Forest Green (aka the Coldplay of L2) at the top, the chairman is such a smug prick.

A trip to Stroud would be class though tbf (provided we stay up ffs lol)

Much as my own trip to Lincoln last weekend was class - what a brilliant place, performance/result notwithstanding

imago, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 14:30 (two years ago) link

I had a very fun day in Lincoln for L2 playoffs first leg fixture. We won 2-1 and the own goal winner was credited to the barely perceptible touch of Iffy Onuora. Had a delicious vegetarian sausage sandwich at a cafe and drinks at a hotel bar that was owned by a Sikh family and they were excellent hosts. And then we got to laugh at some bitter L66ds fans on the train back who were returning from a 4-0 thrashing at Stamford Bridge and had just been relegated from the prem. I miss going on those happy drunken away trips.

calzino, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 14:50 (two years ago) link

Lincoln away is always fun - probably the friendliest home fans I’ve ever encountered, also good beer to be had. And a fairly decent cathedral.

Superb castle, lovely free museum, excellent old quarter...

Tonight, however, was the End, surely

congrats also due unto Exeter for not stuffing up against ten men under the formidable command of John Yems

imago, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 21:20 (two years ago) link

I am looking forward to dear old Yemsy’s interview. I’m guessing he won’t be terribly pleased with the ref. (They went one up, looked like they’d won a pen shortly after, ref booked their striker for diving, he’d already had a soft yellow. I’d have been furious. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.)

Tim, Tuesday, 19 October 2021 21:50 (two years ago) link

"I had the fourth official telling me ‘you keep whinging’, well get things right. If I don’t get it right I get sacked, they get to go on to their next game. Useless.

"They must get them out of Lidl’s or something."

the most charmless ogre I've seen since in a while is Grant McCann. Like the Cowley brothers he spends the entire 90 bawling at officials while his dirty cheating shithousing game plan falls to pieces.

yeah but aren't Doncaster total shat?

I put on a £4 acc and then added another quid because I don't like the no. 4 and felt like this was going to come in today. Fucking Stoke 3-0 up and they fucked it up!

Lol oh god

imago, Saturday, 30 October 2021 16:13 (two years ago) link

Adkins did alright in the past but I think his rep was inflated by rocking up at Southampton when they had the best squad outside the prem

calzino, Saturday, 30 October 2021 16:15 (two years ago) link

anyway lookit the acca didn't come in but did you even in your wildest thing corberan could have youse in this position 15 or whatever games in

imago, Saturday, 30 October 2021 16:25 (two years ago) link

no not really, but I'm confident we'll be midtable by jan/feb. There is only so far being quite defensively solid can get you, all the attacking players are out of form/lacking confidence - it's a rum game when you are relying on Hogg to score. Lol maybe Jordan Rhodes will come back from injury and show us the player Bruce wanted to chuck Grealish in a ditch for!

Tim, Thursday, 11 November 2021 12:49 (two years ago) link

I mean we'll hardly finish ahead of them but I reckon we're playing them at a good time - the time when the Run Of Form naturally peters out. Ipswich and Rotherham should finish 1st and 2nd, the rest sorts itself out in theory

Since it's Bradford day on ILX I should note that we beat them 3-0 after extra time last night, their manager is a sour ex-Argyle piece of work, but it seems we used six subs and look like being booted out of the cup as a result.

Tim, Wednesday, 17 November 2021 14:03 (two years ago) link

Would have offered to get you down on a free ticket this Saturday on an anyone-but-Argyle remit but I didn't think in time, and I also notice your lot have to serenade the Carlisle fans towards their ten-hour return journey

imago, Wednesday, 17 November 2021 14:07 (two years ago) link

Good work with the subs though, a fine flourish

imago, Wednesday, 17 November 2021 14:07 (two years ago) link

It's a nice though, thanks, but I'm not wasting any Saturdays on the Snot in any case, I'm off to see the Carlisle game.

for Wednesday against Town in a game we lost I meant!

calzino, Thursday, 18 November 2021 09:30 (two years ago) link

There were some bizarre decisions in our game on Tuesday night including a player being booked twice and staying on the field, a player continuing after being knocked out cold (he got helped to the side of the pitch then literally staggered about for the next 10 minutes) and a defensive wall being walked back 10 yards for a drop ball.
