Hodge's visceral hatred for Corbyn is actually quite impressive at times!

I'm wondering how much the Islington connection is behind it.

How does Spock's brain come into this? (Tom D.), Monday, 13 September 2021 20:44 (two years ago) link

A former leader of Islington council and now a devoted Blairite member for Barking, Hodge agreed to debate Clause 4 with hard left MP Jeremy Corbyn in front of an earnest crowd at the Red Rose Centre in Islington.
Corbyn argued to retain the public ownership clause while Hodge said electoral victory must come first. Corbyn won the crowd over completely – at which point Hodge turned from cool pragmatist into fuming maniac. She rose to reply and completely blew her gasket: she called the astonished crowd stupid and accused them of loving being in opposition and of having their heads in the sand. Of the hundred or so present, only two voted in favour of Hodge..

this as well

So in the blue corner, Starmer's team deny a deal, but their arguments are inconsistent, illogical & anonymous.

In the red corner, Len is on the record saying there was a deal, providing uncontested verbatim quotes & showing Starmer to be dishonest.

Who would you believe?

— Alex Nunns (@alexnunns) September 13, 2021

of course a former Corbyn speechwriter would say that but the contradictory and constantly shifting palter from Kieth and his staff doesn't hold together at all. But you are allowed to be a bad liar in UK politics if you are a tory.

If you haven’t quit the party yet, it’s always a good time but now is especially good.

There are concerns that Sharon Graham, the general secretary of Unite, will reduce the amount the union normally gives to the party before elections. Tensions also remain with the GMB over Labour’s environmental policies.
Those tasked with keeping the unions onside include Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader; Nick Parrott, her chief of staff; Luke Sullivan, a political aide to Starmer; and Rachel Reeves, the shadow chancellor, who is involving them in drawing up economic policy.

Good luck with that.

the list of councillors has been set for Newham now (chosen by the NEC) and all of the new intake apart from one are firmly on the right. only three councillors left who supported Corbyn.

there's room for several narratives about the position of socialism in the Labour Party, and for debate about how anomalous the Corbyn moment was, or the Atlee government was, but i feel pretty safe saying that it's never been more useless to working class people and the Left in general than it is now

will Hodge backtrack when Starmer and Lammy have to make grovelling apologies for all the offence they've caused. It goes beyond party politics, just about everyone sees how crass and defensible it was - apart from a couple of Labour MPs!

Well anyone who finds themselves in a situation where you are making a promotional vid at the berlin holocaust memorial without thinking "perhaps there is something not quite right about this". lol, they are definitely lacking something.

They play dirty. They will play dirty next time too. A green new deal would've been the best chance to save capitalism/the way things are. So the right have only destroyed themselves.

You can argue about how much difference the money would have made in different seats, but you can't argue that the diversion of funds didn't happen, nor that the secrecy of the operation wasn't a deliberate attempt at sabotage. https://t.co/EXzA2Wz0yy
