Dear Evan Hansen to the tune of Kaleidoscope's "Dear Nellie Goodrich." Makes it way more tolerable to hear about Dear Evan Hansen.

It started with Holloway Road, which of course is v close to "Holiday Road", but now my brain has been doing this for every sign with "road" on it in London, no matter how tortured the meter. Halp!

I used to walk by Harriet Street in Pittsburgh all the time in the early 90s, and it seemed like it should be the hook of some wet indie song, perhaps obliquely about getting your 7" put out by Harriet Records, "I want to live on Harriet Street". There's also Sarah Street in another part of town, but that didn't inspire the same jangly guitar sounds in my head.

Nice. When I'm exceptionally stressed it's "TIME TO HAVE STRESS!!!" to Mad Cobra's "Flex (Time to Have Sex)".

I've had the Four Tops' 'Bernadette' stuck in my head for like the last day and a half except at some point it morphed into 'Burn To Death' so that's what I just keep hearing over and over now

Marty J. Bilge (Old Lunch), Sunday, 26 September 2021 03:17 (two years ago) link

xp, "Ready for Lunch" is a Bad Company jam.

Habemus poptimism (Ye Mad Puffin), Sunday, 26 September 2021 11:48 (two years ago) link

lol i picked up "Burn to Death" off a misheard-lyrics site circa 2005 and it absolutely defines the song to me. terrifying.

Van Halen's "Hot for Treacher" is an all time favorite, the well known classic about Roth's fetish for fish n chips

lol i'm just going to take it all the way to being a boastful metaphor concerning his rock-star success: "I've got it made, I've got it made, I've got it made - I'm Arthur Treacher." sort of an "i think i'm Big Meech, Larry Hoover" type thing, but fast-food fish-n-chip related.

surprised to learn there is exactly one Arthur Treacher's establishment left. also that "Arthur Treacher" was a successful British actor whose affiliation with the company was kept vague. i think i'd always figured he was like ColoneL Sanders, or possibly Captain D.

I think it’s “Got it bad, got it bad…” etc though admitttedly Roth’s accent makes it sound kinda funny
