now that Final Jeopardy is over, here is the Point Recount round, where we have the audience decide who really won

Right wing game shows are an untapped marked. Jeopardy but all the answers are from Conservapedia.

Paging Pat Sajak.

Chuck Woolery has that gig on lock.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 31 August 2021 18:08 (two years ago) link

It's really the entire industry.

John O'Hurley of Family Feud/Seinfeld fame is quite conservative.

Wink Martindale was an early Trump supporter, as was Bob Barker.

Drew Carey was a Ron Paul guy. etc

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 31 August 2021 20:39 (two years ago) link

that explains why he currently looks like a smug BMV driving upstate college professor then

Duke Detain (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 31 August 2021 20:41 (two years ago) link

I just looked up when exactly Bob Barker died, and... he's still alive(!) at 97

Josefa, Tuesday, 31 August 2021 21:18 (two years ago) link

And he'll stay alive until every pet in Los Angeles is spayed or neutered.

in any case, thank god they finally got this guy off the show completely

Some judged Mike Richards solely on his podcast comments and formed a negative opinion, but I judged him by the way he treated people backstage at Jeopardy and formed a much stronger negative opinion https://t.co/mebtz0Tgc3

holzhauer is hilarious

I caught one episode of the show he works on, it’s not bad. Being the guy tasked with ruining peoples’ chances at a life-changing payday seems like a bummer though.

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 1 September 2021 15:53 (two years ago) link

Richards seems to be from a long line of people that can somehow navigate the corporate world falling upwards while being a total kiss ass to his managers and terrible to anyone around him that cannot help him out. That really seems to be one of the more successful ways to go it seems in any field.

I kind of love that his downfall was tied into him deciding the world needed a behind the scenes pod about The Price Is Right that would somehow go beyond subjects like the origin of Plinko.

what is it with the name Michael Richards jesus

Duke Detain (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 1 September 2021 18:37 (two years ago) link

The five episodes that Richards shot in his first and only day as “Jeopardy!” permanent host were scheduled to start off the new season on Sept. 13; as of now the plan is to air those episodes, even though he is no longer EP or host

these are gonna be strange

i also have to assume richards is gonna sue sony? tho i guess he still has an overall deal there whatever that exactly means, maybe they will throw a ton of $ at him to go away

matt amodio has surpassed james holzhauers’ streak in games won. although he’s only made about a third as much money in that time (800k v.s 2.4m)

flopson, Tuesday, 21 September 2021 08:20 (two years ago) link

& btw wouldve lost yesterday if his opponent knew roger rabbit

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 21 September 2021 12:10 (two years ago) link

Holzhauer won 32 games, Amodio is only at 23.

Precious, Grace, Hill & Beard LTD. (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 21 September 2021 16:29 (two years ago) link

Or 24, as stated at the top of today's ep.

Precious, Grace, Hill & Beard LTD. (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 21 September 2021 16:32 (two years ago) link

It’s a shame he came on in this fucked up luminal time, I would otherwise be following closely

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 21 September 2021 17:43 (two years ago) link

Unlike Holzhauer, Amodio rarely goes all-in on Final Jeopardy. I could see that he didn't know Who Framed Roger Rabbit? last night, because he stared straight ahead for a long time before writing down his answer. But I didn't think he'd lose, because he's been pretty conservative on Final. He sometimes goes all-in on Double Jeopardy questions, and once that put him in negative territory, but he's a much more conservative better than Holzhauer.

oops misread. my bad

flopson, Wednesday, 22 September 2021 05:41 (two years ago) link

the girl who could’ve beat him on monday with the Roger rabbit question was smashing the pop culture categories, i thought he was in trouble when they announced final jeopardy category was 80s movies and it wasn’t a runaway

flopson, Wednesday, 22 September 2021 05:43 (two years ago) link

i like matt

flopson, Wednesday, 22 September 2021 05:43 (two years ago) link

I think he is cool too, dude likes some baseball. Dude flat out knows his geography and kills on the lit questions.

Hard to believe he missed the Turing question tonight considering he is an AI doctoral student.

So many people not making Final Jeopardy against Amodio. He goes up by so much so early I think it makes competitors swing for the fences a bit

Gardyloominati (Neanderthal), Saturday, 9 October 2021 23:34 (two years ago) link

what's goin on Amodio? u shook!

finished in last damn

Gardyloominati (Neanderthal), Monday, 11 October 2021 23:28 (two years ago) link

Amodio's loss was kind of like the excellent sports team that wins by a ton week after week and then finally gets in a close game and kinda comes apart at the seams.

earlnash, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 02:40 (two years ago) link

questions seemed super easy. otoh, matt got a few obvious ones wrong (spawn dude?!)

flopson, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 07:19 (two years ago) link

he choked and the rough thing was he knew he was choking, otoh it was bound to happen! hate to see a big champ go down squirming though

...and on a Monday game (i.e. the first one of that shooting day)!

Precious, Grace, Hill & Beard LTD. (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 12 October 2021 13:47 (two years ago) link

Yeah, that was surprising. And it seemed like the others' quickness with the buzzer really rattled him. None of his previous opponents came close to him in that regard, and suddenly he had two challengers who were as quick as him (or quicker).

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 12 October 2021 14:54 (two years ago) link

I really wanted the lady in the middle to win, she seemed cool

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 October 2021 19:19 (two years ago) link

yeah imagine beating matt and still finishing in second lol. that's rough.

for him to miss a geography based final jeopardy that both other players got correct was really shocking. not that it would've mattered but international geography felt like one of his (many) strong suits through his run. especially one like that where the question inherently narrowed down the answer to essentially a multiple choice set of answers... crazy.

you could tell he was just off kilter the entire second round, which was wild bcuz there were some games where ppl stayed close to him in round 1 and then he would just rip off like 13 of 15 answers in the second round and be up by 25k. even when the buzzer went to him he was out of rhythm, stammering etc. they also stuck both double jeopardies at the top of the board and the one dude getting them back to back pretty much killed any chance matt had at that point. you could tell when the woman in the middle ran through that entire section of medical abbreviations to open the round w/o matt even buzzing in once that something was off

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 October 2021 21:45 (two years ago) link

gonna miss matt. looking forward to tournament of champions

flopson, Wednesday, 13 October 2021 05:25 (two years ago) link

they should do a tournament of players who would’ve won an episode had they just not faced matt. you could easily fill a whole week

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 13 October 2021 06:30 (two years ago) link

^that is a really good idea

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 13 October 2021 12:24 (two years ago) link

in general strong 2nd place ppl, not only vs matt; redemption wk or w/e
