Ahh yea the man w guitar mix is the one I mean
I’ve historically loved certain songs on fever more than CGYOOMH — “love at first sight” esp but also “love affair” — but I can’t deny that of all the songs on the album CGYOOMH feels like it takes up the most space in a physical sense, like it’s solid and immovable piece of history. Maybe I’m just subconsciously trying to redescribe Tim’s use of “statuesque” but it has a very sort of undeniable cultural presence that is 1 of 1

The most statuesque Confessions single is "Jump."

these two songs feel like flip sides of the disco coin. can't get you out of my head is totally drugged up imo, insistent, an invitation to the dark side of desire. even musically, i always hear it like:
Every night, every dayJust to be there in your arms.........TRUST IN ME.....JUST IN ME....
a delicious, senseless, endless pulse.
"hung up" feels positive. she's hung up on somebody but it's fun, it's triumphant, it's deliriously riding over the horizon on a massive ridiculous horse. it's the sun breaking over the dancefloor.

"Hung Up", only because I'm still getting over how overplayed "Can't Get Your Out of My Head" was at the time.
Now if this was "Love at First Sight" on the other hand, it would be a different matter altogether.

idk sometimes that kind of thing doesnt matter to me and sometimes it does ... kind of cool in the abstract imo but the execution, hard for me to totally get on board

Really feel like JLC's mid-00s sound hit its peak with the Sorry remix (and this is a more controversial statement then it sounds given how many amazing tracks he produced/remixed in that era) - the groove really sounds like this massive wave crashing over your head and engulfing the dancefloor.

Deej if you’re talking about the Man With Guitar edit of Sorry then I agree that that is the most brilliant thing associated with Confessions.

"Hung Up" was the biggest song when I was finally old enough to get into nightclubs. It was played at dance clubs, at gay clubs, at student nights, just everywhere, and it never failed to make me happy. I love both these songs in different ways and for different reasons but I think Madonna is always going to win just for the emotional resonance in my nostalgia.
