Not complaining (we're getting a bunch of rain, but nothing out of the ordinary).

It keeps getting pushed back for us. First it was going to start at 3am, then 11am, then 1-2pm....

The longer it rains somewhere else, the less rain it will have to dump on you! The residents of somewhere else are not thrilled by this self-evident fact.

JR I love Kingston! I was just there last week, didn't know your family hailed from those parts. My parents are actually on a boat hiding out from the storms there now. I had the best mussels of my LIFE last week in a bistro near the stone church.

They are not from there, but winterized the summer place and live there now.

We were in Beacon seeing friends where it was calm and peaceful, got on the road and hit intense rain and flooding. Drove through a lake of a puddle due to gushing water near North Bergen. Visibility was super low so suddenly. Made it home finally into flooded Hoboken. Nuts drive.

Yikes Evan! My parents decided to move halfway through the afternoon because the weather was so calm (and they were running out of water, and my dad hates sitting still), and it was clear sailing until south of West Point, at which point they probably hit the same weather you did, and had huge problems docking safely and are finally tied down but a little shellshocked.

I'm about to go sit on a screen porch and listen to it rain.

I can't fall asleep without "Rain Falling On Attic Skylight With Quiet Thunder Sounds". I used to require multiple televisions and radios like Roky Erickson, so that's an improvement.

I wouldn’t mind all this water if our basement didn’t flood when it happened. To make it worse this time, the door has mysteriously locked for the first time since we’ve lived here and the landlord can’t find the key, so we can’t we can’t even go down there and move things off the floor or survey the damage.

I’ve been mopping up water in our garden level apartment for the past few hours. We have a sliding glass door and at the high point there were a few inches of water behind the glass, like an aquarium, and water was seeping in around it and under the front door. Not fun.

We had a little water in one spot in our basement (which happens from time to time) and lost power for about 10 minutes. We've been on LI for 20 years and that was maybe the heaviest rain I can remember.

No flooding where I live in NJ, but NJ Transit trains aren’t currently running and I was supposed to go into NYC today for the first time in 19 months, something I was frankly a little apprehensive about, so… *happy shrug*

8 dead in NYC, 7 in queens. A few of them not far from me. I live on the top of a hill in the 5th floor of a building so flooding is no issue for me luckily.

C was determined to drive into the city for an important pick-up today, with a pull-behind trailer, going to Gowanus. I tried to dissuade him but ultimately failed. Bon voyage!

Looking at local facebook group and there are some crazy pictures from the storm last night. Our area is right on the LI Sound. Part of the road along the water collapsed and fell into the harbor. In another part of town, a cliff below some homes collapsed on to the beach below. Homes looked ok but could have to make some v v expensive (and not covered by insurance) repairs to shore up the cliff. Flooding everywhere.
