Vineland

I should probably big up the Banks as I campaigned for his inclusion but I'm not sure I'm in the mood. I'll always <3 the culture and the interleaved forwards and backwards chapters structure works, but the big reveal and the stuff about the chair always struck me as a bit off, not really sure what Banks was going for in making his hero a war criminal. Good Omens is one of those kids/YA books I'd be tempted to reread just to see how it holds up (I didn't see the recent BBC version). The Innocent is the only other one I've read.

Good Omens is easily my favourite thing from either of the authors, still wouldn't vote for it but think it stands up ok.

Just finished Vineland last month, liked it a lot.

Hm. After boosting Kitchen in one of the old threads, I think NP is the only one of these I've read, and iirc it's the weird incesty one that I didn't like much. Still say Yoshimoto is a good writer, but wouldn't recommend this one.

The big question I'm left with re this list is whether The Vor Game is in fact an early example of Vore.
