It seems to be a problem with paragraphs rather than the brackets, from my brief testing. I just added in some more hide tags to cover the rest of the content.

Phew, that took a bit of work but hopefully that's done in a way that works for you? It's definitely paragraphs. So, in future, if you want to keep stuff hidden when you're doing a paragraph break rather than just a line break you need to add hide tags for each paragraph.
