We need some encouragement right now, this is a safe space to be slightly boastful about your achievements and good fortune.

I'd like to get the thread started but afraid I'm not (yet) qualified to do so.

2007-2011 were pretty sweet. Found a group of people to hang with at college, graduated and landed a great job right off the bat, got married, had all my disparate friend groups combine and partied every weekend, went to a ton of awesome shows, watched the Packers win a Super Bowl...

1991: was skint and waiting for my next giro. Went round my mum's house to try and borrow a tenner she lent me a few quid and gave me a dented can of carling black label lager she'd got from the reductions aisle for 55p. I opened the can when I got back to my flat and out popped a tube with two £50 notes in it. That was my Willy Wonka golden ticket moment, spent it on some speed and some proper lager, it was all downhill from there!

Reminds me of - an English friend from my days in China told me how he got there, he maxed out all his credit cards and spent the last balance on a one-way ticket and a big blow-out party, then inevitably overslept and got to the airport half an hour too late to get the plane. He went to a payphone to call his parents and cancel everything, and found a wallet with £500 cash inside lying in the phone booth, enough money to get a ticket on the next plane out.

My real answer would be fairly controversial so I'll keep the powder dry on it for now

Moving to dublin for the then-gf's job prospects in 2012 put me on the path to further study, career progression, lots of personal development and the only regular exercise routine i was ever likely to get so that's a decent second answer
