Emboldened by feelings, and with still no blowback from the Gen Z Colombians at the opposite end of the bar, they venture even further back to Concrete Blonde’s ‘80s hit, “Joey.” Female half of the couple knows all the lyrics of everything and sings along.

A fun game is to develop little quirks at each oasis. Here, I’m the guy that pays with a card but leaves cash for tips. This other place, I order a drink in a non standard glass. At that one, I always show up at a certain time and have a cheap shot/beer combo

impromptu afternoon session yesterday, first one since 2020, instigated by wanting to watch the F1, just me on my own and then by the time Everton game started I'd met lots of friendly people and even an old work colleague I hadn't seen for about 8 years.

After months of being a regular (and playing loads and loads of music) at my local bar, I finally got a drink on the house.

As a matter of principle I probably tipped as much as, or possibly more than, the drink's price (because of course)

At another place that I play regularly (a distillery), I ordered a bottle of their house gin to take home. But I struggled slightly with how much to tip on the value of the (rather expensive) bottle.

Like, I don't even blink at tipping $7 for a free cocktail. But I am iffy on how much to tip someone who has just, like, handed me a $45 bottle of lemon verbena gin. No matter how tasty it is. (For the record, it is extremely tasty.)
