I reached out to a few folks last nite, but I feel like the RT "fan community" is thinned out & atomized, so it's heartening to see ppl come together in one place like that (the few tweets I was seeing were snarky and unhelpful). I'm not on FB so don't usually see what happens there.

I am hopeful that someone in a position to get money/help to him will set up a fund or other initiative to make that happen.

For all of its drawbacks Facebook at least is less of a descent into hell competition to see who can be the most snarky about a terrible irl situation.

I was so close to seeing Denver album Hex in Dallas but it got cancelled for the new Trux album. Really beat up about that loss.

I'm sure I've already said once above I felt the new Trux record halted both Hex and Bananas at their strongest moments. I think Bananas is working on new shit, I saw them in Denton and they were fucking strong.

I hope Knuckleball isn't the last Neil offering. I hope the Trux catalog gets into the right label's hands and we finally get Outtakes, Alternates, & Practice Jams on a 3 vinyl set lol. And Sweet Sixteen. I'm gonna need a 4 terabyte large 'Twin Infinitives Sessions Uncut' pretty please.

Maybe a year before that though he played one of the stranger shows I've ever seen, on the second floor of a French wine bar on South Broadway in the middle of the afternoon with all the window blinds closed. With a small band that played a very peculiar style of almost Ranchera type instrumental music. Neil played hidden behind a Japanese screen, and then talked about brunch a lot in-between songs. But then, he talked about brunch in-between songs at the CDY show too. He was looking good though both times, sad to see this photo going around. Can’t speak to Jennifer, but by the time White Stuff came out, Neil had slowed down significantly – it had been 3 years since Denver, and the last Hex album was 3 years prior to that.

(FWIW, I have a soft spot for White Stuff… due to recency, it’s the Trux album I’m most likely to reach for (including earlier today). Even retread Trux beats most bands at their prime… and I actually do like it a bit better, on its own merits, than P4P and the 2nd half of VoD.)

I dig White Stuff. A member of Royal Trux is probably pretty high up on the list of people you do not want as neighbors. Possible poll?
