i called out of work for mental health reasons today (i'm fine, just having a rough week) and then remembered this is out.

potentially more consistent that season one with less high highs but also i'm excited to grow obsessed with several of these sketches over time

odenkirk sketch is absolutely perfect, i guess another thing that distinguishes this season is the writing is genuinely emotionally heavy at points

knew i was in good hands when i was already losing my shit at "coffin flop"

in the same boat as brad, agreed that the odenkirk sketch went from 0-60 from funny to affecting at the speed of one of his triplicate barracudas

maybe nothing as explosively funny as the focus group or robert palins sketch, tho the coffin flop and little buff boys sketches came close, but a lot of them feel like growers

much as with the first season, there's a pretty clear 50/50 split between uproariously funny and total bomb.

all of these sketches are guaranteed goddamn hits

had grand plans to stretch these out across the week to make the fun last longer, but blitzed through the first 3 last night, was in tears the entire time. loved how there were a few mr. show-style callbacks, like the dan flashes commercial. agree that patti harrison is an mvp. the casting in general is so good, esp the non-comedians like the santa claus guy or the burger stealing professor.

My partner usually hates sketch shows and absurdism, but loves this show. I think it's down to 1) good production values 2) everyone else in the sketches react like actual humans.

This is why no one watches AOL Blast.

yeah, it really does a great job at the "one person seems to be in a completely different universe from the rest of the group, and the rest of the group tries to cope with this" motif.
