The Reflex put up a really nice post on their socials about getting to do this which I thought was so sweet.

I sequenced an imaginary album out of all the "outside" remixes from this album and conducted heavy scientific analysis and: you won't believe it, but

turns out the Cosmodelica remix of Murphy's Law and the Soulwax remix of Something More are completely incredible?

A good helping of Moloko material.

I've never managed to see her live, she's got to be an amazing performer.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Monday, 27 June 2022 14:11 (one year ago) link

That was incredible. (That being watching it on telly).

djh, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:28 (one year ago) link

Watched this a few (well, lots of) times. And a similar show from Zagreb (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeeNgUVT4oY). Roisin really orchestrates/is in control of ... the whole thing, isn't she?

djh, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 18:51 (one year ago) link

She is a rare talent. Kind of reminds me of a cross between Annie Lenox and Debbie Harry, but is also completely sui generis.

I'm curious about the directing the filming of the Glastonbury performance as I've never known another act on the BBC coverage start with a cameraperson with them backstage and follow them out before it cuts to the usual cameras in front of stage. Really nice move.

nashwan, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 19:08 (one year ago) link

Is there a video of the full Glastonbury performance available? I'm seeing only excerpts on YouTube.

Thank you!

That Zagreb set was tremendous. My love for this woman has only deepened over the years since Moloko disbanded.

For no particular reason, converted the live show track list into a playlist of the same tracks* (I think - alcohol was involved).

(*for now, likely to edit into what I want to listen to while working).

Find that Glastonbury version of Familiar Feeling strangely emotional, for some reason.

djh, Monday, 4 July 2022 22:04 (one year ago) link

From what I’ve seen so far she was the coolest, best sounding artist on Glastonbury. She’s really good live.

Fucking hell, I can't stream it as I am outside the UK. The only clip I can find is "Incapable," which just makes me want to see the whole thing.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 5 July 2022 19:49 (one year ago) link

It's torrentable.

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 6 July 2022 05:23 (one year ago) link

Thanks! I haven't torrented anything in years, I guess it's time to jump back in, at least for this.

it's a live version of "flash in light" that went up on streaming, seems like she might be about to announce a live album?

StanM, Friday, 20 January 2023 19:17 (one year ago) link

so she was crowdsurfing during part of that, which explains the crowd noises during the song

StanM, Friday, 20 January 2023 20:11 (one year ago) link

apologies - I tried to put the audio to the video and I couldn't, so then I noticed it's not the same evening. Audio was May 15th, video above is from the 16th. The intros aren't the same length, for one :-)

StanM, Friday, 20 January 2023 20:29 (one year ago) link

except... I'm so confused. They only played one night in Berlin, the 16th? is this audio heavily recut or something? AND it mentions the wrong day?

StanM, Friday, 20 January 2023 20:32 (one year ago) link

I watched the livestream yesterday. Fabulous stuff. Apparently it's going to be up for a few days so check it out if you're a fan. Apparently she's bringing the curtain down on the Roisin Machine period, so on to the next thing.

everything, Friday, 20 January 2023 20:44 (one year ago) link

re: flash of light : or maybe it was recorded on the 15th after all, but it was in Utrecht, NL (Tivoli/Vredenburg). anyway. I give up.

So - updates!

The Koze album is probably coming late in the Northern Hemisphere summer. Its rumoured title is Hit Parade and it will be released by Ninja Tune.

A single, "Can't Replicate", is available on limited edition vinyl. No word on when - or if - it will be available to stream or download, although it's being used in DJ sets already, like this one for example. (Seems to have a Lil Louis sample running through it). If you follow Róisín on instagram, you might've heard an early version of the track here - while I like the edit's techno throb, I do hope this iteration will become available somewhere down the line, and I kind of wonder if it is the album version as it sounds a lot more...Koze-y.

Then there's another, sunny track that Róisín has been teasing on TikTok - rumoured title "CooCool". See here for a bit of that.

monotony, Wednesday, 22 February 2023 23:57 (one year ago) link

interesting that it's credited to both

"can't replicate" is great, but i agree that the 2020 snippet also sounds very promising and i hope it emerges eventually

ufo, Thursday, 23 February 2023 00:12 (one year ago) link
