Also, I'm troubled by the above lacklustre panning of Moloko - they're one of my favourite bands, always interesting, weird pop music sneaking in where it shouldn't be...couldn't pick a favourite album cos I love all of them, Things To Make & Do is hugely underrated etcetc.
So. Moloko. Fabboko or Crappoko? And is All Back To The Mine any cop?

is statues really that crappy? i mean, they always produce their own stuff don't they? have they really sucked their own extremely strong personality out of their own records? am confused.

"Familiar Feeling" was great, BTW! I have yet to hear a single by these guys that wasn't fantastic.

I am squealing with excitement!

Go out and buy one then, there aren't many to go round. The first EP is pretty raw sounding pop, not very dancy considering the parties involved.
Most Moloko I've heard has been sort of mediocre
You are either insane, or you haven't been listening as well as I have... ;-)

The one-two punch of "I Want You" and "Over and Over" is incredible - the way the strings on the outro to the former bleed into the latter is a masterclass in pop songwriting

I have a couple of Moloko albums, but I see 'em more as an act that could be strong on individual tracks but not over the course of a full-length.

― Eris (Ross), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:29 (five years ago) link
Though things to make and do is wicked
The best of their stuff really is great, though. A compilation of their best tracks would be amazing.

Recently discovered the Salt City Orchestra edit of 'Knee Deepen' which makes me wish I'd listened to All Back To The Mine remix comp properly when it came out. (Almost) needless to say this is nothing like the original version.

Yeah, this. Statues is close to perfect and almost as good as Overpowered. None of the others come close.

Statues is certainly my favourite Moloko album and I probably like it more than any of Roisin's solo work too. such an incredible album

Updated for 2019:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UdDdVY-zgASha Sha ft. DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small • Sing It Back
― breastcrawl, Friday, 18 October 2019 06:30 (four years ago) link
“Sing It Back”, repurposed as a gospel workout, lyrics slighly tweaked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxuqpXRNuUMSoweto Central Chorus of the Salvation Army ft. Samthing Soweto • Bring It Back(or here, in footage from the concert itself, starting at 55:12): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJxmbsgD-FcDon’t know if this version predates the much more faithful (!) Sha Sha cover or not (it looks like it was recorded last year as well) - Samthing and Sha Sha are only one step removed from each other obviously.
