Crap. I need to get my paws on that track. Into the cassette crates I go.

ditto for manic compression.

Oh yeah. Fuck yeah. Probably the most influential band at my high school. Not that Quicksand went to my high school, but the guys in bands who wanted to sound like them did.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 17:30 (nineteen years ago) link

really¿ you went to a cool high school.

dysøn (dyson), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 17:32 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, I did.

Listened to a little bit of Slip on the train on the way into work this morning. It still sounds as good as when I first heard it. Definitely a classic album from a great band.

Total classic. The reason why I started a posthardcore band.

Manic Compression is also really good.

"Manic Compression is also really good"

Amen. I always thought that it was a pretty underrated album, even by a lot of serious fans of the band.

Saw 'em live open for the Offspring in 1995 -- and I had a photo pass so I was right up front. Fairly intense.

funny ,i have been listening to both albums as of late on my ipod. shame they never put out more.

They played "Fazer" on Jimmy Fallon last night, and it sounds fucking stellar.

Slip got an anniversary vinyl reissue earlier this year, still pretty easy to get a hold of but don't wait too long.

Just noticed tonight that Manic Compression was also just reissued by Asbestos. I don't like that one enough to own it, but if you... https://asbestosrecords.bigcartel.com/product/quicksand-manic-compression-lp

I have not listened to this for like 25 yrs. V classic as I listen to it again now.

My teenage kid is a big deftones fan but was playing slipknot in our car and i told her about my brief early 00s brainfart mistaken id case between slipknot and quicksand (with album called slip) and i then said ‘hey let’s listen to ‘slip.’ Seemed to like it fwiw

Those first two quicksand records are great. Not as warm to the newer stuff as some people are.
