real advice: i too have long messy hair. i went to a place that specialized in dry cuts -- basically wavy hair needs to be treated differently from straight hair, and dry cuts can help control frizz and poofiness. i'm due for another haircut, but i'm still very happy with the one i got.

"dry cuts"? I'm assuming this is literal, they cut your hair when it's dry kind of thing, although I've never heard of it.

My hair has just enough wave in it to look bushy whenever I try to have a cute trendy hairstyle. It either has to be cut close above my neck, or have grown out beyond shoulder-length enough that it's tamed by its own weight. I'm trying to grow it out now and it's really annoying.
