Matt - do not be surprised if nobody speaks to you ever again!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:05 (twenty years ago) link

Hey, there are drawbacks, were it not that many of my friends are slackers I would have no social life to speak of at all = I work every Friday and Saturday night.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:08 (twenty years ago) link

But come Monday morning I love my job.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:08 (twenty years ago) link

Have a job where you're off on Mondays *stretches*

that's like saying stay in bed... i hate you! however, i do gain some consolation that while i'm settled into, or at least resigned to another week at work tomorrow, you may be feeling as bad as i am now!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:08 (twenty years ago) link

I had a scary meeting (about my job regrading) at *10am* this morning. Not recommended as a good way to start the week. A good breakfast and some snuggles (if available!) can help though.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:09 (twenty years ago) link

Matt, that's harsh, i retract my statement. My sympathies!
Archel - I hope all is ok.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:14 (twenty years ago) link

Monday morning love-ins before work are always good!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:14 (twenty years ago) link

Surely they are good on any day?

Matt (Matt), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:20 (twenty years ago) link

Monday morning love-ins before work are always good!

considering the state of my love life right now this is less help than the idea of getting another job!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:26 (twenty years ago) link

Get a job as a gigolo!

Matt (Matt), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:33 (twenty years ago) link

Matt, I have the perfect websit for you to peruse...

smee (smee), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:34 (twenty years ago) link

Wow. I want my 'special time' dammit!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:39 (twenty years ago) link

I am sorry Dave. Back to my earlier suggestion of cakes!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:40 (twenty years ago) link

Archel - It's hysterical innit? The worst part is I found it while googling for "relaxing gifts for pregnant women"!!!

smee (smee), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:41 (twenty years ago) link

Hey! I've worked very hard to build up an exclusive clientele!

Matt (Matt), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:43 (twenty years ago) link

I am sorry Dave. Back to my earlier suggestion of cakes!

you're not the one who should be apologising ;-) cakes, a good call...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:44 (twenty years ago) link

in my last short holiday in san sebastian (northern spain, near bilbao), i learned that the shops there are always open on saturday afternoon, and therefore are always closed on monday morning (!).
moving to san sebastian and opening a shop there could be a good move for you, mate.

joan vich (joan vich), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:44 (twenty years ago) link

Monday mornings are definitely the time for all manner of cakes and pastry items. Then you have the whole week to be good and healthy.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:49 (twenty years ago) link

"you're not the one who should be apologising ;-)"

So, erm, who should be then.....

smee (smee), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:50 (twenty years ago) link

can we include pies - actually, sorry, i promised i wouldn't talk abt them again, but i suppose this is my thread so it's better than hijacking other people's to bang on abt them...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 28 July 2003 09:54 (twenty years ago) link

HA. This Monday morning is fine with me because it is now only four and one half days until the Baltimore FAP. Mondays are best dealt with by having something to look forward to so you can stop thinking about what a great weekend you just had and start planning the next one.

Millar (Millar), Monday, 28 July 2003 10:32 (twenty years ago) link

Oh yes I agree!
Pies are obv very acceptable, your thread or no! Are you coming on Saturday? Do you have something to look forward to?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 10:42 (twenty years ago) link

Eat brownies and smoke cigarettes for breakfast.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:34 (twenty years ago) link

Mondays aren't too bad for me usually as I have plenty to do and the day goes by fast. Thursdays suck because it's almost near the end of the week and they go by slow, and Tuesdays suck because it feels like you've been at work for like 10 days in a row but it's still the beginning of the week.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:36 (twenty years ago) link

smee did I miss something and you're preggers? Sorry for the derail, but have we had an ILX baby yet? (defined by me as ilxor announces both conception and birth, but not necessarily the product of two ilxors)

teeny (teeny), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:42 (twenty years ago) link

yeah, i'll come on saturday, why not...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:43 (twenty years ago) link

If all goes to plan, I will hopefully be announcing something next year! I'll keep you posted.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:47 (twenty years ago) link

mondays always suck because i never get enough sleep the night before and i have to come in and deal with work.

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:26 (twenty years ago) link

Tom's advice re: ILX v. good. Also, music.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 14:24 (twenty years ago) link

(smee, saw the other thread about your friend, now understand. still want to know about ilx bebe though)

teeny (teeny), Monday, 28 July 2003 14:31 (twenty years ago) link

Posting to ILX at the weekend is my favourite time to post!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 28 July 2003 16:57 (twenty years ago) link

I have more spare time at weekends, so can post more then than in the week.

Today was rotten - an intractable coding problem caused by a rotten bit of design, fortunately not by me, but I had to solve it. One of those that sounded small but required substantial structural work (plus making good, call it £500). Took me just about all day.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 28 July 2003 21:07 (twenty years ago) link

Bloody Mary's and double chocolate muffins for breakfast.

brg30 (brg30), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:45 (twenty years ago) link

Monday morning: just get out of bed, dressed, and out of the house. Take yourself to breakfast.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:47 (twenty years ago) link

six years pass...

really glad I stayed up til 1 a.m. meeting writing deadline that just got put off to Friday. Waking up at 4:45 was the best part.

I don't mind Mondays, never have. It's the middle of the week that's a bit of a grind.

Blue Fucks Like Ben Nelson (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 25 January 2010 15:05 (fourteen years ago) link

i've been on a tues-sat work schedule the last few years, which makes mondays weird. everyone else is back to work (including my wife), i'm at home taking care of the kids. it's my housewife day, i guess. and boy do i hate it when it's cold and rainy like it is today in nyc, makes it hard to take the kids anywhere and everyone gets cranky.

hellzapoppa (tipsy mothra), Monday, 25 January 2010 15:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Not getting up til 9am makes everything better. Wednesday mornings are worse tbh.

tipsy, I think you need to join us for Brooklyn Monday night bar trivia some week, once your chores are done.

that sounds appealing.

You guys didn't go last Monday, did you, Morbius? The Princess Bride night? I guess tonight should be a Rob Reiner night as well.

no, i didn't. had 4 hrs' sleep last night, so not today either.

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Monday, 25 January 2010 16:34 (fourteen years ago) link

Are we going tonight? I haven't been home since last week sometime so I could use a Night In, esp if it keeps raining. But if there's a group going, I will try.
