ehh "the albums just need to be mixed and recording is done and i'm really hoping to announce them soon" is progress from the variations on "we've almost finished recording our new albums" that he was saying for the last two years

not that i even have much optimism that new music from them will be that good or anything at this point in time

the crystal castles song is a serious jam but I can never listen to their music again tbh

The only "bad" album they've put out is Wild Mood Swings; I don't fault their later material for being comfortable rather than visionary.

Da Hype is a massive banger but Robert Smith is not really what makes it good. Still this is a pretty solid set of tracks, certainly beats the stuff The Cure has done since Bloodflowers.

I would say the total opposite. Who knew his voice was so suited to House ecstasy ? But they were so right.

What's kinda remarkable about all these heard in a heap is that -- and sequencing and more would allow for even more fun possibilities -- is that it becomes an absolutely amazing genre-hopping solo album. Reminds me of nothing so much as Sinead O'Connor's collaborations compilation, which is a deeply underrated collection.

the cure has always been genre-hopping though.
